Remember your reading glasses and a guide would have been great. Other than that very interseting especially the letters

Well worth spending a couple of hours walking around the museum which traces early man in the region, and ends with the challenges facing the 78 different tribes in Zambia trying to protect their identity in a "modern" society. I say "modern" as of course it depends on your viewpoint!

The museum is full of displays, there's a whole section dedicated to Livingstone himself and his life.

If you want to read everything, then I would guess 3 hours

Worth visiting as the museum will only take you about an hour to walk round and it's in the center of town so not out of the way.

If you get to Livingstone, give it a visit they need your entrance fee. Original livinstone letter's have been stolen but are still a few to peruse. We need to support the museum otherwise a great adventurer's story could be lost forever.

I visited the museum with my daughter and really enjoyed it. The rooms are very well organised and the exhibits well presented. We particularly enjoyed the recreations of village life scenes. The stuffed animals were a bit tired-looking but so are those in London's Natural History Museum... The section dedicated to David Livingstone was also very informative and interesting. It may not have the last generation interactive attractions of big city museums but it's a testimony of Zambia's history and culture well worth visiting.
