“Great Location, Great Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2010

This hotel is great for so many reasons - the property is warm and inviting, the pool is refreshing, the breakfast is abundant, the food of good quality and reasonably priced, and the internet availability in the business center. But the greatest reason to stay here is the proximity to the falls.. You won't get closer. We stayed three nights here. We took the complimentary shuttle to the Royal Livingston for sundowners the first night, then had dinner there the next two nights. The only complaint was the room was a bit small (we had a room with two double beds), but the bathroom was large. The only problem we had was we were charged for a bottle of wine when only a glass was ordered. We discovered the mistake the next day and it was quickly corrected by the manager. I would recommend the Zambezi Sun to anyone traveling to Victoria Falls.

Close to Victoria Falls with access to the amenities of the Royal Livingstone but without the high price. My room was comfortable and clean including a love seat and enough room to spread out and work on my photos. The included buffet breakfast was outstanding with a multitude of choices and all well-prepared. The activities center, the location from which many tours left, was nearby and was "manned" by a wonderful group of charming, helpful young people. The service was outstanding. I received a call from the manager on my 2nd or 3rd day - just checking in to see how I was doing. Can't say enough positives and will definitely stay there if I am lucky enough to return to Livingstone.

We had a really wonderful stay at the Zambezi sun. The hotel and grounds were lovely, you could walk through the back gate to the falls, zebras were walking around the swimming pool, it was all surreal. Fantastic buffet breakfast, though we mainly ate in the sport bar in the evening which cooked fish to perfection. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though you have to be prepared for all the tipping. Would recommed the elephant safari, but the white water rafting was really dangerous, the trip on the african queen is a must. If you go to the curio market outside the hotel, visit George and Earnest (23 and 25) for good prices without getting hassled. All in all a great hotel

If you want to visit the falls more than 1 time and not have to pay $20.00 each time you enter the park ,than this is the right place to stay. There is a back gate that you can use (hotel guests only) that allows you unlimited access to the falls for free from early morning until sunset.I can't imagine only seeing the falls once. At different times of the day it changes. The rooms are smallish, but the enry to the falls makes up for it. The room is clean. You get either a balcony or a walkout patio. They have no furniture on them...ask for chairs. The second level rooms are more private: request the upper floor.Breakfast is good.Don't buy sparkling water at the pool it is $4.00USD.You can drink the water. They have ice machines. Bring a big bottle and fill it with ice.Squires restaurant is very reasonable and the food, not fancy, was good.If you go to dinner at Royal Livingstone make sure the men are all wearing long pants. My husband had on nice capris and he wasn't allowed into the restaurant (jeans were OK, but not Calvin Klein dressy capris !) We didn't go back, but prices seemed fair for a nice restaurant. Dinner buffet at Zam Sun was $39.00USD they had entertaiinment, but you can just sit at the pool and listen, if you don't want to eat a huge dinner. Don't order pizza from roomservice unless you like eating cardboard! Even with all of the minor problems, I would stay here again, because of the falls, grounds, and zebras.

The Zambezi Sun is a pretty good hotel that borders Victoria Falls and offeres awesome access to the park and falls. The activity center offers lotsa trips and activities like safaris, bungee jumping into the gorge, whitewater kayaking, and fly fishing. One can also walk across the bridge into Zimbabwe. The food was good and the resort offers three different places to eat, including a sports bar where we watched the Manchester United game on the big screen. This resort felt like a family place with lots of couples and kids running around (just watch out for the crocs in the area).

Ideally placed for a visit to the Falls, which is only a short walk from the back of the Hotel.
Set in idilic grounds with roaming 'wild' animals the accomodation and facilities are good though expensive as you are a captive audience if no transport.
A visit to the more luxurious Royal Livingstone Hotel next door is worth a trip even if just for the coffee.

Our family (parents, teenager 17 & teenager 13) stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on start of August.
The room was big enough to accommodate all 4 of us (2 double beds) and was clean.
Not enough storage room so we had to keep most of our cloths in the suitcases.
The location was great. Only 10 minutes walk from the room to the falls.
The zebras and baboons in the hotel grounds were great fun.
The main restaurant buffet (breakfast & dinner) was very rich and tasty and the service was friendly and welcoming.
