“Life with the Lions”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

The Sanctuary breeds lions with a view to releasing each third generation completely into the wild, these animals by then will have had no human contact. The visit involved a walk with three large lion cubs and a talk about the running of the sanctuary. Although you could touch the cubs they were not pets and had to be treated with respect. It was disappointing not to be albe to see some of the larger breeding animals

“Incredible interaction with lions”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

I was skeptical that this would be like going to a zoo. I was delighted when it was a real encounter with lions in an open environment. The guides were knowledgeable and showed they really cared for their feline charges.

It is hard to imagine how it is possible to walk with lions. I loved the way the Lions were respected and allowed their natural behaviour. This business has complete knowledge of the animal and do a very good job of educating you about these amazing creatures. I left feeling so good about being part of their conservation. There are strict guidelines to follow when walking with the Lions, the whole operation is so professional and I felt quite safe during the experience. I have seen photos of people having experiences in other countries with big cats that have so obviously been drugged, if you care about animals this is the one to do

“Simply a must for cat lovers.”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

After carrying out much research about this venture, decided to go for it and what an experience it was. the project is supported by ALERT and its long term aim is to release Lions back into the wild with aid a 4 stage process. The project started in 2008 and the first cubs have been now been born as part of stage 3that will be releeased into the wild. We took an 11 month old brother and sister on an hours walk along with 4 members of staff to ensure our safety. It was quite simply a great experience and also knowing that you are supporting such a great cause, helping to ensure, in some small way, the continued presence of Lions on the African sub-continent.

“Walking with the lion cubs”

We liked the idea of the project, and it was very professionally organised, with strict safety guidelines to follow and several handlers for each group. Make sure you book from Australia as it is often booked out. If you buy the DVD , make sure you ask for the names of the lions you walked with. The only think I disliked was it wasn't long enough.
