We stayed three nights at the Romana Resort & Spa. For a 4 star resort our stay was pretty average. This may have been because it was in the low season. The resort is very isolated, they advised us that there were bikes available however everytime we wanted one they were broken. They really need a more regular shuttle into town, currently it is only at 10am or 2pm and you need to remind them about. At first they told us the only way to get to town was a taxi until we persued it more then the shuttle was available. Internet is only available in the lobby, not in your room. Everyday we had to seek out cushions for the pool chairs and hunt around for staff to turn the jacquzzi on. On the last day, the reception desk called us three times before check out time to remind us about checking out, they also disconnected our tv service before check out time.
The rooms are clean and standard. The buffet breakfast was nice.Food is good but very expensive and since you are so far from town, unless you get a taxi you must eat there.
If you are looking for a place that you can just sit at the pool and relax it is a good place for you. If I came back again I am certain that there are other places that offer better value for money.

We visited Vietnam in September and our one night stay at the Romana was by far the worst part of our entire trip. The rooms are tiny, old and dirty. The buildings are old and run down, the hallways and elevators we in a total state of disrepair. Our "sea view" consisted of a 6 inch view between our balcony and the roof. The food, room service and overall customer service were terrible. There are plenty of other hotels in the Mui Ne area that offer far better service and amenities.
My suggestion to you: stay far away from this place.

We stayed here at the end of six weeks travel thru Vietnam, and it was the perfect finish to our honeymoon. The main pool and resort restaurant overlook the beach. The food and room service is great. We had a villa with ocean view and private pool which was gorgeous for a bit of romance and relaxation. The friendly service from the Manager, Michael completed the experience.

The Resort is very nice and comfortable. The rooms and bungalows are spacious and the private pools in the bungalows are awesome. It is the perfekt relaxing spot. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with fresh fruit, egg dishes, pastries, cereals etc.
The staff at the reception speaks quite good englisch, but the others don't.
The only thing, the resort is quite a way out of town and it is only reachable by taxi or by bike or motorcycle. A regular bus shuttle would be a nice thing. (Presently they have one at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.)

Stayed four nights at Romana Resort and Spa in Mui Ne. We had booked an ocean view pool villa, but were upgraded to a beach front villa. The villa was amazing. Ocean view, own pool and a very nice bedroom. If you're booking this type of villa, keep in mind that the bathroom is "outdoor". It is very exotic to shower next to a palm tree and we found this bathroom a very nice one. But you'll have to be prepared to "share" it with others: geckos mostly. :) One night there was a frog observing us...
All in all, we enjoyed the villa very much. Also housekeeping and room service were really nice. The public pool area is nice. The spa is overpriced.

But: The service in hotel's restaurant was not good. There is loads of staff, but they keep standing around gossiping and giggling, not doing their job really. You'll get much better service in Mui Ne restaurants.

Also the food wasn't entirely a good experience. One chicken dish I ordered didn't really have any meat in it, just bones and skin. Also, the breakfast was basically nice, but the breakfast room had so many flies, it hindered my appetite a bit.

The hotel has internet connection in public areas (not in villas). It is located in between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. Taxi to Mui Ne costs 2-4 euros and to Phan Thiet 4-5 euros.
If you're coming from Ho Chi Minh City, it takes 4-5 hours to drive by car.
