We stayed at the Saigon Muine for 7 nights in May 2011. We chose this resort due its proximity to a tourist area. Indeed, the location is great. There are many restaurants, Vietnamese and Western, within a walking distance (less than 2 km) of the resort. There are also some bars and a few convenience stores very close.
The resort itself is beautiful. It's a little on the old side but not run down by any means. The reception staff needs to learn a little more about customer service. We were greeted with a Welcome drink but the staff seemed a bit uninterested and sometimes a little confused. Overall, this did not cause any problems. The rest of the staff, restaurant and pool, seemed much better and more professional.
We stayed at the sea view room. The room was on the ground floor. We had the sea view but only if standing up. However, the room was about 20 meters from a private beach! We loved this. The room was nice. The bed was really big ( king size), sheets were clean, mattress was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a walk in shower room. The only downfall was the dirty wall and dirty blinds. Once again, not really a concern. The room had lots of English channels ( HBO, Cinemax, CNN, BBC, CNBC, Discovery, NAT GEO, and a few more).
The included breakfast buffet was not bad. It was mostly Western food; eggs, bacon, bread, etc and some fruit. Of course, it included PHO.Pho was good most days.
The amenities include: the pool, private beach, poolside restaurant, library, workout room, spa ( I think). The pool is a nice size but not big. It's not deep. The water is warm and clean. Perhaps the best part of this resort Is the private beach. It has built-in cabanas and free beach chairs with pads. The beach is very clean and the water is pristine! As you would expect, it was empty and very private. We loved it!
So, overall, for the price this resort is a good deal. We paid $60 per night. Oh yeah, in case you're wondering, the resort as well as Mui Ne is very safe. Still, you should always leave your valuables in the safe!
