“Decent resort & Good value, slightly out of the main strip!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2011

Stayed here with my wife, mother and infant daughter. Overall this is a very good value resort. We got a good deal from our travel agent. We were in a big building and we could see the pool from our balcony. This is about 5 kms down the road from the main strip of resorts and restaurants called Nguyen Dinh Chieu street.Thats the main negative.

Pros:
Excellent value for money
Good and clean rooms
Very decent breakfast

Cons:
5 kms away from main strip
Non smiling staff

Room Tip: Avoid superior garden view rooms. They face the lobby and the parking

I stayed here with my girlfriend for two nights, we had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The staff were pleasant and our room was kept spotless.

The hotel is located a bit further away from the strip of restaurants but it's easy to take a taxi to get there. We had a nice relaxing time and couldn't have asked for a better hotel after coming from the bustle of Ho Chi Minh. The beach wasn't the best as it is a windy area though well suited for wind surfing as we could see.

We'd happily stay here again.

we stayed here over xmas 2010 and it was very crowded and busy. after breakfast we would head to the pool and all the couches would be tagged from the patrons at breakfast. it was very noisy and the staff were nice but not overly helpful. it is about 5 km from most of the restaurants and the restaurant at canary beach resort was terrible. we left here and moved down the beach to a quieter more boutique resort.

Stayed at Canary 2 weeks ago and we booked it 3 months prior. On arrival after a 4 hour journey we got to reception to be told that our rooms we had booked were not available. The people in them had decided to stay longer after realising it was tet and the staff just let them keep them. However we got upgraded to the deluxe sea view which was very nice but our friends weren't so lucky and were bundled into what you could call the overflow room. Tiny with a tiny window. This was temporary until the next day when their room was ready but still not on. Complaining at this place doesn't mean anything the staff just hang their head and say sorry over and over until you go away. All the staff are miserable anything more complex than a beer takes forever to come. They won't help you at all. The breakfast is pretty bad. I would recommend not booking it because there is an excellent cafe across the road which also does great meals.
However the actual resort is lovely, quiet, the pool, beach and rooms are great. Lots of foreign tourists alot of russians who seem to get up at the crack of dawn and put towels on the sun chairs. We just removed them if they weren't on them for more than an hour. It is a bit out of the main belt but it costs very little to get a taxi up to the nice restaurants and bars.
In all I would say from reading some of the other reviews this place is definately hit and miss. If they sorted out the staff and management it would be amazing. Shame really.

First time i stayed, was just a week ago, had a lovely room in the new A building, with nice veranda. Was pleased. pool is beautiful, and beach is nice, although it is not very clean, but im not sure what beach is in Vietnam.
Came back a week later, and got put in the B block of rooms, with small balconies, with huge uncomfortable chairs. Not very nice after the other room. I think it's hit or miss with this place. It is a resort, has a resort feel, with lots of foreigners. Mostly russians, while i have been here. There are some decent resturants outside of resort, but walking is either on dirt or sand or in the street. Up more near town, there are sidewalks. Room service is fast and cheap, complimentary breakfast (if included) was good, and plenty. Gardens are nice. Internet is terrible. One day you have it the next you don't so if your trying to stay in touch, forget it. I also got a virus on my memory camera card on the public computers in the lobby, unruley kids love to play online games on those machines. Overall it's not a bad place really. The beds were comfy, I would just insure that your in the A building on the 2nd or 3rd floor, not on the top floor there is no balconies, it's like the attic, they tried to get us in one of those rooms, and we said no way. Good Luck. We also stayed at the Sunshine Beach Resort back in town, that was nice but very windy on that side of beach, with no pool there.

The staff willingly accommodated 4 of us on a shoestring budget in a deluxe room though we paid for the extra breakfasts.

The beds were huge for 1 person so we could comfortably share however, if you paid for an extra bed, there would be little space to maneuver. Heard about the mosquitoes so we put up the net for one bed but there was little need for it. In fact the bites we got all occurred outside the hotel grounds.

Breakfast spread was more than sufficient.

Only problem we faced was the lack of beach deckchairs from Canary. The next door's hotel's beach was much emptier but we were shoo-ed off as we were not their guests. Luckily we did not have much time to spend on the beach.

We scouted around for cheaper motorbike rentals but seriously, just get it from either the hotel's souvenir shop or opposite the road. Think it is about USD8 per day for the auto.

Staying at Canary means you are slightly out of the main tourist belt so you def need a motorbike. Alternatively, just flag a cab. Be warned...they are never available when you desperately need them.

sitting in the hotel now on the beach front luxury bungalow, with the deafening sound of the sess pit pump pumping out to see,and the smell of you guessed it. we staying here with friends and this noise happens all day and night!!1 we asked them to turn it off which they did at 2 in the morning, and restarted it again at 5 45 the same morning!!
as i write my wife and friends are looking for another hotel, this place advertised peace and tranquility.its just not happening!!! the staff are moody and argue with each other, and they have no idea how to make cocktails, which you will finally get after about 10 mins! if you drink beer you will be ok,cos they can just pop the top,i asked for a bottle of wine and the waitress disapeared, she returnd 10 mins later with an unchilled bottle which she had bought from the shop outside!!! still sitting here waiting to be moved 7 hours after requesting, the room has not been cleaned and no bottled drinking water has been brought,if you ask for teabags you are allowed 1 a day!!! and if you want coffee they take the teabags away!!!! plus side the internet works today!! pool nice beach nice, overall very very very disapointed, cannot wait to get out of here......3 days into my holiday!!! they have no idea whatsoever on how to handle this situation!!! so if you like crap service, noise and russians, and waitresses that only smile when they have wind, this is for you!!! otherwise stay well clear..............very disapointed!!!!!!!
