“Very nice hotel”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

I stayed two pleasant weeks in this resort and was very satisfied with the service and the cleaning of the room. The pools (2) were good and warm. The hotel is situated close to restaurants and spas with much lower prices than in the hotel. I can recommend Sea Lion.

Me and my husband were absolutely unhappy with the hotel. We got a corner room at the ground floor facing an elevator, near the path, and close to laundry. As our flight arrived with 6 hours delay, after 10 hour flight and 6 hour transfer, we were totally unable to go to the reception to have discussions about the room, which made me feel sorry because the day began at about 5 am with the stuff passing by and talking and rattling their paraphernalia and ended about 2 am with the drunken guests getting back to their rooms. So be sure not to get anything like that if you choose to stay there. Then there was an awful smell of mould in the room. All our clothes we brouth home smelled of it.
The bed was very hard, the light was extremely dim and we could not open the window because of the room location.
But the worst thing was the bathroom! The room itself is rather large, shower being in the corner. The shower has no shower tray and only a rail with a short curtain to prevent water from splashing. So the curtain was too short for the rail and moreover the shower holder on the wall was poorly fixed so the water hit the opposite wall right across the door! Trying to adjust it I broke it with no effort and nobody ever came to fix it, though we informed the receptionists and the maids many times. Hence, whenever we had shower the water was all over the bathroom.
Then, there was a shampoo story. Normally I do not bother myself to bring or buy my own shampoo, I just use the one offered by a hotel. In this hotel the shampoo and shower gel are poured into small ceramic jars that stay on a basin shelf. BUT! It is about 1,5 meter from the basin to the shower corner and there is no opportunity to run to and fro! And there is no shelf or anything else to put them in a shower corner. So I used a toilet flush as a shelf for the jars to keep them handy. Naturally, one jar fell down and broke. It took 2 and half days to get a new one! Three times I talked to the maids (we knew where to find them - just round the corner, 5 meters away from our door), twice - to the receptionist. Finally I got a new jar, a bill for 63000 dongs and the fragments of the broken jar.
Water was also a problem. For the first three days we could not understand what was wrong, thought maybe these are local features. First, water was cool, then got warmer and then turned hot and we could not get it colder. Once we tried to take shower in the afternoon, the water was unbearably hot! And there was definitely something wrong with the toilet flush, the water filled in extremely slow. My complains to the reception to check the toilet flush did not result in anything. As we did not stay much in a hotel it took us three days (out of 6 of total stay) to understand what was wrong - cold water was turned off!!! Luckily, at least cold water was turned on without delay.
The breakfast was abundant but not tasty, especially in comparison to what is offered in local restaurants, so we took only omelette and fruit. And when they packed their version of breakfast for early morning excursion, the sandwich and cakes were absolutely inedible. The breakfast is claimed to be till 10, but avoid coming at 9.30, the staff will be cleaning everything away and you will have either to catch them by the hand or to tell them what you need (good if they understand).
What is good about the hotel? Their green and large territory with the garden and the beach. That is all.
And my gratitude to the guy from the bar, who saw that I hurt my foot against the rock in the sea and came up with the plaster pad.
We would like to go to Vietnam again but I will definitely avoid this hotel and will not recommend it to my friends who want to visit Vitenam too.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in during my trip in Vietnam.

We are talking about a whole new price class, which is very high compared to other "regular" hotels in the country. You get to choose between various rooms and suites (which are basicly only separated by their view, whether you want pool or ocean view or beach front...). The service is what I would call mediocre, the majority of the receptionist don't even speak english and only reply with "yes" ?! And if you'd like to upgrade your room or if you need some help with other typical things it's only the manager who is capable of doing ithat (who is very nice by the way).
The Sea Lion Resort offers you many great facilities, and fortunately it is located in a zone which only has one season (so it is always hot), so there will always be appropriate weather for swimming (and if it isn't too cloudy, for sunbathing).
I would recommend this hotel to any traveller ready to spend some money, because you really get something for what you pay.

Over priced for what you get. The grounds and the buildings are beautiful, but that's all that really impressed me.

The staff are mainly Unfriendly and unhelpful - the bell boy is the only one I would commend for his services.

The showers were terrible as there was no pressure nor hot water - and when reception was informed nothing was done.

This is the second time we have stayed at this resort and both times we have found it to be exceptional. We had a deluxe ocean view with a balcony. It also had a nice view of the pool. The room was very clean each day and the maid was always quick to respond to our needs.

The breakfast buffet was bountiful and included in the room price. We must specifically mention one waitress, Bich Thuy, who gave us exceptional service each time we were in the restaurant. She treated us like royalty, bringing us plates of food and drinks. We understand that gratuities are not expected but the service was so gracious that we gladly acknowledged it with tips.

If the opportunity arises for us to return to Mui Ne, we will be sure to stay at the Sea Lion again and will recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: deluxe ocean view is good value. Bungalow is nice(stayed there 1st time) but a bit overpriced.

So my family made the trek from Saigon to Mui Ne, and had booked two rooms at the Sea Lion resort through a travel agent out of San Francisco. We started with the shock that even though we were paying top dollar, we were only getting a "seaSIDE" room instead of an "oceanfront room." this meant that the only ocean view we could get was if we stepped out on the balcony and crained our necks to the right. We managed to fix this (and paid more for an upgraded room), and that's when the problems really started. We went to bed on the first floor slept for about two hours and were awoken to a horrible itching, the room was infested with bed bugs and several cockroaches. We called the front desk, they moved us to another room and changed the sheets. You do have to give them points for trying to please, but the execution of this "4 star" resort just seems way off. The only redeeming part is the manager, who was apologetic the whole time and at least trying to make things right.

the pool and beach is nice! other then that, i will give the hotel 1 star!!! room is about 3 stars any where else in the world!

if you are taking the bus from Saigon to mui ne, DO NOT use "Tam Hanh travel" !!! its about $5 USD per person and they are $5 for a reason!!! they will drop you off on a freeway somewhere and let you take the taxi to your hotel!!!

Room Tip: Try Sea Links Beach Hotel
