“Ok hotel and location, bad service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

Stayed here 3 nights in December 2012. Good location, ok area, close to the sea.
On arrival I was taken to a room without external window - was told this was 'standard' room. Paid 70.- for 3 nights/1 person. The room was damp and dark. Had to pay to 'upgrade' to a room with window. Spacious and nice room.
Reception service was the worst I've ever had (I travel quite a lot - different parts of the world).
Her English was worse than my grandchildren's (7 & 8 -just started to learn English). Asked for a grocery shop (to buy water ..) and was directed to the beach.
Ask for public bus to Hoi An and Hue. Was told it wasn't possible. Had to take a private car for an insane price. Asked which route the driver would take - she couldn't answer. Said the driver didn't know English, so I would need to take her with me as guide - she hardly knew English - so wouldn't help much. Decided to drop it.
Upon walking into the city of Da Nang the next day it appeared there were an express bus leaving for Hoi An (also for Hue), which was a fraction of the price. On my return, I boarded a local bus, which was quite alright and cost next to nothing. Don't like people who deliberately lies to me, so for this reason I would never go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with external windows

Good points: Location - on Pham Van Dong street which is jst minutes away from the beach and the city. The room was spacious as well as the bed. Everything was clean and tidy. There are motorbikes for 150,000vnd/24 hours.
Bad points: The staff especially the receptionists were far from friendly. It seemed like they didn't like to talk and smile much to guests.

Golden sea is fabulous value for money. The staff are friendly, the rooms are big and clean, the shower is hot and every time you sit in the lobby area someone brings you a cup of tea. For $20 a room I feel this is great value. It's a 5 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to really cheap markets and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within a 5-15 minute radius. There is also cheap massage and nail parlours close by.
A couple of the staff members had broken English but there was always someone close by who could interpret better, and this was not an issue at all. I would not hesitate to recommend this place, and for $20 it's such a bargain.
They didn't offer much support in regards to tours but Anna's tours is literally just across the road and they were so helpful and cheap!

The entrance of the hotel looks good. However, the bad experience started in the room, the floor and the bedsheet were not clean and led to skin itchiness the whole night. A night stay was enough for this.
Hotel served breakfast with limited choices, do not put hope for a western breakfast, they do not serve western breakfast. No salad, no cereal, no bake beans.
Waitresses do not understand simple English and simple manners such as smile and morning greet.

We stayed in Na Trang for one night in transit and mainly to visit Po Nagar.

This modest hotel was unbelievable value for an hotel in the vietnamese equivalent of a sea side town. I think we paid £15.00 for a twin room with en suite. It was clean, good beds and about four minutes from beautiful beach. OK so it is not an award winner but if there was a category for Unpretentious Value for Money this hotel would win. This family owned and run hotel does what it says on tin. If you are on a budget this hotel provides good option. We asked for a very late check out because of train connection to Saigon and this was no problem. This allowed us to send the day on the beach, after visiting Po Nagar which is really worth a trip.

We stupidly get burnt while having foot massages but were able to buy fresh aloe Vera. They obviously see us coming and buy in extra. Gives one a "glow" to know our stupidity helps boost local economy !

Room Tip: Ur room was on second floor with sall bacon had despite local building opposite we were not disturbe...

We booked a double bedroom with really nice view to the beach. When we entered the room, we were informed that the Tv remote was missing (how did they know it??!) and we were told to find it or we would be charged for it when checking out. Couldnot find it anywhere though, later we were disrupted by one to another staff who tried to find the remote, one finally succeded. The room is nice with nice view and conditionaire, however water pressure is weak, they really saved on toilet paper and towers, hotel staffs are money oriented, bad english, dont really help you, no information for tourists, no map, no instruction. The city doesnt have many actractions either. Breakfast is really poor, just vietnamese food, cold, if you want to have something to eat, come earlier because they are not going to serve more food for you. And last point, We should have booked hotel in Hoi An instead of in Da Nang.

We stayed here for 5 days. It is positioned equally between the beach and the river so it is a 5-10 minute walk to either? The beach is huge and quiet, very beautiful. There are some fisherman pulling in massive nets, very interesting to view their catch.

The hotel is clean and spacious. It was quiet, almost too quiet. We were the only people in the restaurant at the times we used it. That being said, we are traveling out of season.

The buffet breakfast is Vietnamese with noodles and rice on offer along with a large selects of other unknown choices.

The guest relations girl Huong, was extremely helpful. The best we have come across on our trip. She speaks extremely good English, which makes up for our lack of Vietnamese.

Da Nang at night is a real spectacle. Not to be missed, especially Dragon Bridge.
