If you want to capture the best view of Danang, this is it. Go there for a day trip. Pack your bathing suite & camera. You won't regret.

Wow, this place is beautiful!!
We had a spare day in Da Dang and we weren't sure what to do, and after doing some research this seemed to be our best bet. We hired a scooter and drove along the coast which is stunning and very scenic. Just before the turn off we spotted about 15 monkeys on the side of the road. So friendly and cheeky. We had pre packed some bananas with us (just incase) and they were climbing all over us to nibble on them, it was amazing.
The view at the top of the mountain was breathtaking with very minimal tourists up there. It was such a beautiful day and I highly recommend visiting here! It was an easy scooter ride up too, steep in some sections but easy enough! What a nice way to spend a day!

This is a wonderful place to walk, most visitors are on the ubiquitous scooters and probably miss the sheer beauty and wildlife of this lovely mountain.
We took a taxi to the Lady Buddha and walked on up passed the Intercontinental Hotel following the very well maintained road that offers several routes, all with magnificent views. Our route took us to one of the peaks - Ban Co peak which from its Peak (shared with a board playing man statue), offers a great panorama stretching from Da Nang City and the Ba Na Hills, out across the bay and the Cham Islands over to the Hai Val Pass and Lien Chieu Bay. It is good cardio workout, the roads are quite steep in places, we are by no means young or fit but we found it a pleasure, we took our time to enjoy the wildlife and views, stopped a couple of times and covered the 10 miles in 5 ½ hours. There is a good route from the Lady Buddha up to Ban Co Peak and down in to Da Nang City if you have no time constraints and want to make a day of it.
We saw plenty of Macaques soliciting from visitors but were also treated to a troop of red-shanked doc langurs high in the canopy which was lovely. The most charming part of the walk is the multitude of butterflies that surround you as you with every step, all sizes, shapes and colours. We were there in June so maybe this is peak butterfly season, it was spectacular. Next year will go walking there again and explore some of the other roads on the peninsular
I would recommend a walk through the Son Tra peninsular to anyone wanting to get out and about near Da Nang.

On a sun bathed lazy afternoon, my friends and I finally got it together to motorbike to the Son Tra peninsula. I was intrigued by the stories of wild monkeys living in these mountains. We did not see them, mostly because it was their siesta time (around 1pm). Instead we were in awe of the magnificent views from the very top. As you reach the highest level of Monkey Mountain you are welcome by the vastness of the South China Sea. The views of Da Nang and nearby areas were astounding. By the time we drove back, the sun has receded a little and the little rascals came out of hiding. We saw macaques only but it was worth the trip. If you’re planning on visiting, do it early in the morning. Totally worth it.
