“Gourmet Dining by the China Sea”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Chef Jurgen prepared a breakfast feast that would satisfy guests from any culture in the world. Every item was carefully prepared, fresh and attractively presented. Each day I experienced a different cuisine. Wonderful way to start the day.
In the evening the fish buffet was spectacular! I especially enjoyed trying the local fish. Every piece of fish was cooked to order and brought to the table.
The staff was knowledgeable about each dish which was helpful in making choices.
I especially liked the trumpet fish. It looked like an eel but was orange. I was encouraged to try it and so glad I did. It was delicious.
The Furama was like a resort from the mag Departures. Elegant and friendly.

Room Tip: You can hear the sound of the surf in the beachfront room. The lagoon room is quiet.

Dear Singlewanderer,
It is a delight to hear that you found the different meals experience at the Furama Resort were so delightful! We are indeed very much focused on personal attention also and especially when it comes to food. This might be difficult some times especially when the hotel is full but we are always eager to suggest meals which fit each palate. By knowing first hand on what our guests prefer to eat, we are always keen to make suggestions and please our guests in every way possible.
Thank you for having taken your time to write this review and we certainly hope to get a chance to welcome you back and prepare some new exciting dishes for you and your loved ones.

Despite fair to poor weather, our stay at this lovely resort by the sea was quite enjoyable. We had a large Ocean View room with king bed and plenty of space for sitting and using our computer. It was nice to have a terrace where we could watch the sun rise and set and enjoy the pounding surf from a distance.

The bathroom is spacious with both shower and tub, having been remodeled from our most recent visit. We have stayed here four or five times over the last fifteen years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Danang/Hoi An area.

The food under the watchful eye of Chef Jurgen Kauz is varied and uniformly delicious. The seafood buffet is a particular treat as you can try any or all of ten plus varieties of freshly caught fish and shellfish, perfectly cooked in any of five different ways.

Breakfast is an International buffet with something for everybody.

The lagoon pool was closed due to the recent storm but the infinity pool was open and attended. The beach weather was not perfect but an attendant was quick to offer us cushions and towels when it was possible to sit out.

We love the Hai Van Lounge with two-for-one Happy Hour with pianist then late night Filipino band playing well into the night.

The staff are all friendly and helpful and they knew me by name(spoiler : I speak Vietnamese and am 1.83 m 96kg so am easy to spot) from the previous visit.

I can't think of coming to Vietnam without setting aside a few days for R & R at this gracious oasis.

Room Tip: Don't come in October/November. Worth the extra for Ocean View.

Dear Mr. G,
We are humbled to hear that all our services and facilities turned out to be 'functioning' very well during your stay and that you were, as during your 5 previous visits, delighted with the Furama Resort.
We are indeed working very hard to keep our services and standards at the highest level which is important in order to please our highly demanding guests.
The Furama Resort enjoying the best location on Danang Beach has always been the favorite place for relaxation with the largest activities on offer in safe and sustainable surroundings.
With the upcoming renovations of the resort, we are excited to hopefully be able to show our newly upgraded facilities and hope that you will be able to visit us again to enjoy their full advantage.
Thank you for having taken your time to write this review and we look forward to welcoming you back anytime soon, we hope!

This is a stunning hotel. Our room was spacious and luxurious with a huge balcony that had uninterupted views of the beach and sea. The bathroom was large and well equipped with both bath and shower. Our room was attended to twice daily and a 'sweet treat' was left by our bedside each evening. All the staff are friendly and helpful with most speaking very good English. We were greeted as we arrived by an extremely helpful and friendly member of staff who gave us cold towels and a fruit cocktail to enjoy whilst we were checked in. We were then escorted to our room and given a quick overview of where everything was located in the hotel. This member of staff was available throughout our stay to help us with advice of places to eat and visit in the surrounding areas. She could not have been more helpful and I am upset that I cannot remember her name as she really made our stay special. Although there are not a great deal of restaurants in the immediate area, Danang and Hoi An are both a short and inexpensive taxi ride away and both places have an abundance of affordable and fantastic places to eat. There is a free shuttle bus to both Hoi An and Danang available during the day and we alawys found that there was room for us on the bus even when we enquired at the last minute. The pools at the hotel are clean and welcoming and the perfect place to cool off. There is an onsite spa and several resaurants, which are slightly more expensive than the local amenities but that's what you would expect from any hotel. Overall, I cannot praise this hotel enough. We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely return. In fact, I still have my watch on Vietnam time as I have the worst ever holiday blues!

Room Tip: Pay extra for ocean view - you won't regret it!

Dear Jen Herb,
We are delighted to hear about your "stunning" review and great and detailed comments about our facilities and services. I will not miss to pass your praises to my staff who are always very eager to do their best with just this extra smile.
Danang and HoiAn are indeed a great extra entertainment for guests to enjoy other good culinary delights and magnificent shopping opportunities.
Keep your watch on Vietnam time as we are awaiting your next visit and to delight you once more with our facilities and services for which we are remembered by so many international travelers during these many years of being one of the top beach resorts in the area.
In regards to the weather, it is true that October and November are a bit rainy, however the days of rain are also numbered and we have overall within these months, more sunny days than rainy ones.
Good luck to you all and we would all be delighted to welcoming you back at the Furama Resort hopefully soon.

We stayed at Furama Resort Danang for a week at the end of October and very much enjoyed our time there.

Having booked a garden view room we were upgraded to a lagoon view room with a big balcony overlooking the gardens and with glimpses of the lagoon pool. Unfortunately this pool was still closed after the recent typhoon (only a week earlier), but work was well underway clearing the damaged trees. The other pools had been cleaned of debris and were open and the resort is right on the very beautiful beach, with a patrolled swimming area.

Our room was spacious and very clean. Some reviewers have commented that their rooms were a little tired but ours was in perfect condition. The attentions of the housekeeping staff couldn’t be faulted. If anything the towels were changed too frequently, being replaced even though we had hung them on the rail. We liked the quote of the day and delicious chocolates that accompanied the turn down service.

Normally we would eat local food rather than resort meals, but the Furama is a bit isolated and we dined in each night. The seafood buffet was very good, with chefs on hand to cook your fish to order. We also enjoyed a couple of meals at the Ocean Terrace. The meals are at resort prices, as you would expect, more expensive than local restaurants. Turning right out of the hotel, and walking for less than a kilometre, brings you to a seafood restaurant on the beach where we had lunch one day. That seemed to be the only place to eat within walking distance, apart from restaurants at other resorts along the beach.
The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. We booked tours through the hotel and they were excellent. Our guide for a trip on the Hoi An River was a life guard, in case we fell into the river! We also took the free shuttle to Hoi An - a great service.

Dear Pauline S.J.,
Great to hear that your stay was truly enjoyable, even though your stay was during the rainy and stormy season. The weather in Danang in October is reported to be filled with rain and occasional typhoons, however, we have more sunny days than rainy ones during October months.
We put great efforts on keeping our facilities in great shape and are proud that we could keep them in this good condition without great renovation works since the many year of heavy operation! We are in preparation for a renovation of the hotel's public facilities (the rooms were refurbished the past two years and we just finished those), and are eager to get those going and being able to hopefully delight our many guests with a range of exciting new looks at the resort.
I will not miss to convey your good comments to my staff who will be delighted to hear that their efforts are being highly appreciated.
Thank you again for your great review and we truly hope we will get the opportunity to see you again soon.

Our stay at the Furama Resort was quite enjoyable. The rooms are exceptional (try to get one on the beach side) and teh staff were superb. Great amanities (pool, workout room, etc) all maintained in clean first class condition. Unfortunately the food was not up to the standards of the resort fixtures. Don Cipriani's was slow service, with unremarkable food. The main restaurant was typical hotel fare.
You'll be pleased with the Resort -- just take care where you eat.

Dear Mr. Martin Jay,
We have taken note of your generally great comments which were passed on to the staff and departments concerned.
In regards to the food at our Don Cipriani's Restaurant, we very seldom get bad comments and are sorry to hear that we could not please our tastes. As per our international standards, we are changing our menus and updating those with great new dishes every six months to a year. For the Don Cipriani Restaurant, our new chef Andrea came up with a truly exciting new menu with totally exceptional and true Italian dishes which will be introduced within this month of November and on time for the upcoming Festive Season. We truly hope, we could get the chance to join us in order to taste these special treats in the not too distant future.
The nightly Seafood Buffet at our Indochine Cafe with its huge variety of fishes and seafood is a delight for our local and international guests alike who give great praises for the quality. The Breakfast buffet has probably the largest number of dishes (local, Asian and international) of any resorts in Vietnam and are also praised daily by our guests.
Furthermore, all our services are being 'updated' and monitored constantly in order to be on line with top 5* standards and include some weekly English lessons for all our staff to enhance the communication with our demanding guests.
We truly hope that we can welcome you back to the Furama Resort in the not too distant future and the chance to delight your palate.
Thank you

My pregnant wife and I were here for two nights, which felt two nights too few. The place is quite well situated along a nice stretch of the beach which was very clean. Other than the occasional plastic bottle or bag, we found it very nice to even lie down on. Separate pools for adults and kids overlooking the beach. We saw 5-6 times when kids were near the beach and they sent an extra guard to stand vigilant at the beach watching over the kids - something new for my eyes at least.

Food wasn't the best, and room service could use a bit of a upgrade, but all in all, no other complaints. Most of the hotel staff were well trained to listen to our needs as a vegetarian couple and overall they made us feel welcome.

The good: Very good beach and pool, the lifeguards on duty at the beach/pool were very alert and proactive, a decent bar/lounge with live music, a good choice of restaurants on location, our rooms was fitted with a DVD player to catch some movies if needed, daily shuttle (twice) to Hoi An city for shopping!

The bad: Apart from guest relations, other staff wasn't the best, blanket got very warm at night compared to the AC's power, food is way overpriced for the quality and Da Nang in general.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Vicky04,
It is great to hear that your stay with us was very pleasant and your observation about our beach guards watching over your kids. It shows us once more, that our international qualified guards, which are trained and supported yearly Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd. We are also organizing regular training courses to other resorts and are asked for support during any kind of issues happening on Danang Beach.
I have taken your comments on the food at heart and asked our chefs to take measures and pay attention to the consistent delivering of food to our guests.
In regards to the prices, we are well aware about the fact that our prices are higher than in Danang, but let me remind you that in Danang the restaurants do not have the luxury surroundings as we do have at our resort. You are mainly exposed to traffic, cannot enjoy a nice view or surroundings and most of all they are not located next to the beach or a terrific Ocean View pool etc. All this costs money to provide an exceptional atmosphere, surroundings and quality of services and food. We spend a multiple amount of money in order to be able to offer these qualities which are all missing downtown Danang.
Your comment on the blanket getting very warm is new to us and I will take appropriate measures for improvements.
Thank you again for having taken your time to write this review.

We are indeed putting tremendous efforts in English and on the job training as well as guest contact and services. This shows us that our efforts are recognized and will motivate the whole team to continue their efforts of making sure the Furama Resort will stay all the way up there!
This will be further enhanced with our planned and upcoming renovation works which we are anticipating to be completed by the middle of next year and we sincerely hope and look forward that all these plans will give our facilities an exciting new look and a pleasure to our guests.
