“Wonderful and Relaxing Long Weekend Away”
Reviewed April 12, 2011

We just spent a holiday weekend in Da Nang at the Furama Resort. We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. Our kids went to the kids' club and while it may not have the activities that some other resorts might have for the kids' club it was complimentary and our kids kept wanting to go. They really enjoyed the kite flying, juice making, bracelet making, and sand castle building. We played in both the lagoon pool and the ocean pool and preferred the ocean pool only because the beach was right there and the water seemed a bit warmer.

We stayed in the Ocean Deluxe Suite which was enough for our family of four (two adults and two young children - 5 and 7). The kids slept on each of the couches and we slept on the bed. The view is excellent and listening to the ocean waves was relaxing.

Our one negative is the price of the food. Living as an expat in HCMC and understanding the pricing structure we felt that the food was a bit overpriced. However, with that being said we also know that we are staying at a resort and prices tend to be inflated. The food was wonderful though and we enjoyed our meals. My husband and I also enjoyed sitting at the Ocean Terrace Bar, drinking cocktails, reading books or talking, and listening to the ocean since our kids ditched us for the kids club.

Finally, we had two private excursions while staying at the hotel. One was to Marble Mountain and the other was to Hoi An. Our tour guide was wonderful.

Overall, our stay was positive and relaxing and a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of HCMC. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and others.

Room Tip: We booked one of the Summer Packages.

Thanks for the review and the great comments . Team and I are very pleased you enjoyed your time with us .
The prices of our food are more expensive than stand-alone restaurants outside the resort but are inline or cheaper than most other 5 star resorts and hotels in Vietnam.
We try to give a wide variety of menus with different pricing structures including Kid's menus which are great value along with good healthy food .So there is no need to spend large sums of money on a meal unless you wish to do so.
Its great to have more and more families coming up to Fabulous Furama from HCMC , as its only a short one hour flight away and we hope to see you up this way again soon.

Da Nang is a quiet city, with few modern features. It sits beside a 35km beach however, and hence has tourism aspirations. Furama is the original resort, though others are following suit. Spacious common parts, good food, and cool, comfotable bedrooms. Four golf courses nearby. 45 minutes from Hoi An whcih is fantastic.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. We have done quite a few resort vacations in Asia and this was a highlight. China Beach is beautiful and there was plenty to do, with Hoi An only 30 minutes away. We felt we got a great combination of resort and culture. The service was excellent. We were especially impressed by the obviously well managed and capable lifeguards. As soon as our children entered the water, a lifeguard hovered at a polite range to keep an eye on them.
We all enjoyed a dinner at the on-site Italian restaurant. Since we arrived for an early dinner, the owner/chef came out and welcomed us and then guided us through his menu which made for a delicious dinner and an overall lovely experience.
We would definitely consider doing this whole holiday again!!

Thanks very much for giving us some very positive feed back.
Our Life Guards are trained by the Surf Life Saving Association of Australia and are the highest qualified Life Guards in Vietnam. We are proud of them and the job they do.
Our Italian Head Chef , Timo, is also a great assest to the Resort while we are recieving great comments from guests who dine at Don Cipriani's. Hope you liked our complimentry Coffee Liquors.
Very happy that you enjoyed your time with us and even happier that you mention that you would love to return .
We look forward to greeting you on your return to Fabulous Furama.

Our large group recently stayed here overnight en route to HCM City. The resort was luxurious and comfortable. We wanted to go snorkelling and jet-skiing but unfortunately at that time of the year (Jan) and on that day the water was too rough. The restaurants were excellent, in particular the breakfast restaurant, Café Indochine, had a great choice of Western and Vietnamese foods. There's plenty to do with the beach so handy, as well as the golf driving range. A great place for R&R. However in term of costs this resort is fairly expensive by Vietnamese standards, then again it offers some great facilities

Sorry about the weather , but it has to rain sometimes.
Danang receives more hours of sunshine and less rain than most other destinations in Vietnam and also less rain than Phuket and Koh Samui, so its a great place to choose for your beach holiday.
Thanks for the comments on the great food and we hope you will have the opportunity to visit us again at Fabulous Furama.

We chose Furama resort as our Honeymoon destination. And believe me, we were not dissappointed at all, the resort, beach, rooms, service, food etc were absolutely mind blowing. Definitely a wold class resort!!! The resort went the extra mile to ensure our honeymoon is a romantic and an unforgetale one! Roses in the room, chocolate mousse cake, champagne on arrival at the airport and a dragon fruit cocktail during check-in..... were the cherry on the cake! Hopefully we will be able to return to the resort soon!

Honeymoons are speciality of ours and we are at present working on a new package that will be even more attractive and pleasing for those who have "taken the plunge" and want a Beach Resort Honeymoon ( and who doesn't ).
The Team and I are most pleased that we were able to make your Honeymoon a romantic and unforgettable one and , like you , we hope you will return soon to Fabulous Furama.

My wife and I stayed at this resort early March. Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed.

The room we had at the back of the hotel was lovely, clean, very spacious and fitted out very well. At first we wished we had one with an ocean view but when you look at the difference in daily rates it isn’t worth the extra. It is just a few minutes walk through lovely gardens, past the beautiful lagoon pool to reach the infinity pool and the beautiful beach at the front of the hotel.

The hotel was only about half full which made it particularly pleasant and never a problem to get sun lounges by the pool or the beach and the poolside food and service was excellent.

The breakfast was a treat with a huge range to choose from and lovely ladies and gent staff members who were always cheerful and friendly making it a pleasure to go there. One in particular, I think her name was Kiem, was so nice we always looked forward to seeing her.

The staff throughout are very good, friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

Room service food was very good and we regret not trying the highly rated Italian restaurant at the hotel. Instead we opted for a meal out at a local seafood restaurant which proved to be not only the most expensive but also our only bad dining experience in Vietnam.

The hotel guest advisor sent us to a restaurant called 4U. Not their fault as they had previously had good reports about this restaurant - but take our advice and steer clear of this one. As we were about to go their (by Taxi), the concierge at the hotel actually warned us to be careful to check the price per 100 grams for seafood and calculate the total before ordering. We had spring rolls, a cheap bottle of wine and grilled lobster. The spring rolls were very good and cheap too but the lobsters were undersized, grossly overcooked, dried out and served on a single lettuce leaf with no sauces or anything else. For this we were charged a total of US$120. We advised the Furama staff about our experience when we returned to the hotel and they rang the restaurant immediately to enquire. The restaurant’s excuse was “we did not say it was 600K dong we said the lobsters were each 600 grams” – as if we would be asking the weight only when the menu just stated “market price”.

A day or two after leaving the resort we had a lovely letter from Jane Hewawasan, the hotel Front Office Manager, advising us they were sorry to hear of our bad experience at the 4U restaurant and would not be recommending it again – delighted to hear it Jane!

If you want a fantastic massage at just US$10/hour try a 2 hour massage across the road from the hotel entrance. We slept 12 hours straight after ours. There is some great ornament buying in the same “shop” too but bargain for a good price. Wine and laundry are available there too but the owner is cashing in on being located near the hotel and lack of competition. You can buy alcohol for a lot less at the supermarkets if you are able to get to one.

Overall I would rate this hotel equivalent to the lovely Anantara resort in Koh Samui, also a first class place. Our 3 night stay was much too short and we do hope to return to this hotel on our next visit to Vietnam next year.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and were surprised on arrival at how quiet it was. We were checked in then went to our room, the safe in the room was faulty so it had to be replaced which was a bit annoying as it took them almost 5 hours to actually change it. The pool at the hotel and the beach were both brilliant.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and polite. For us, this has been the best staff any hotel has had that we have stayed in the far east.

The breakfast buffet was very good and all the food was very fresh... we only ate in the hotel once, which was good. But the food outside the hotel is a LOT better, try the Bluewhale seafood restaurant nearby.

Unfortunately on one of the days of the holiday, I fell ill with food poisoning, which was due to something I had eaten out of the hotel (I ate clams, which was probably the problem). The hotel were very helpful and brought a croissant to the room as I couldn't attend the breakfast. Also we called the hotels doctor out of hours, the charge was 30USD for the appointment and 15USD for the medicine. The doctor went over the top with the medicine, telling me to have 5 pills at once 3 times a day, I only used 3 of them though.

It is definitely worth a stay in this hotel, but be careful when you eat out of the hotel (avoid shellfish or local restaurants if your not used to that sort of hygiene).

Have fun!

Great that you enjoyed your stay with us and thanks for taking the time to give a useful suggestion about eating outside at local Restaurants .Its always best to be that bit more selective and careful.
Not sure if most will agree with you that the food outside the resort is better, particularly when you run the risk of getting an upset stomach but yes DaNang has some great seafood and can be enjoyed in some of the better local restaurants .
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Vietnam and hope you will stay with us at Fabulous Furama next trip.
