Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights during Lunar New Year at the two bedroom villa on the rocks. This has to be one of the most beautiful hotel in Asia. We're wowed by the spectacular decor and breathtaking views. Every corner of the hotel was thoughtfully designed and truly a work of art. My daughter especially loved the Nam Tram that links the different levels in the hotel. We were able to make good use of our heated private pool in the villa, otherwise would be too cool to swim in this weather.

We dined at La Maison 1888, foie gras and pork are very delicious, the other dishes are all decent. It was nice to have the chef Stephane stopped by the table at the end of the meal for a chat. Sunday champagne brunch at Citron was wonderful and good value for money. Good variety at breakfast buffet. Wonderful service by Thach (Jane) at the Citron, she recognised us from our last visit for champagne brunch (more than 6 months ago), her friendly and proactive service really made an impression.

Our butler Huan truly made our trip memorable. My parents left their tennis racquets on the plane, Huan helped us track down and made arrangements for us to pick up at the airport on the way home. He provided personalised service and catered to our every need without being intrusive.

Spa was fantastic, one of the best massage I've ever had. Hue, my therapist was very good, she studied in massage therapy, acupuncture for 3 years and the massage really helped alleviate my neck and shoulder pain. Too bad there wasn't enough time for another session.

      A few minor things:
      - a few incidents of miscommunications: When I get to the spa, the spa reception told me my appointment has been moved to an hour earlier, and the lady asked me "nobody notified you?". I said "no", but they were able to accommodate me at my original appt time. Breakfast at Citron, we asked one of the staff to get us a bowl of pho bo. After 15 mins, nothing came and we followed up with the same staff, he said ok and walked away. Another 10 mins after, he came back and said he cannot bring it to us coz his manager is standing there. We were quite puzzled, another staff came to clarify the situation and brought us the noodles.
      - would like to see more involvement from management with the guests. No greetings from anyone from management for our entire stay, they seem to be quite content chatting amongst themselves while we're having our meals. A simple "Hi, How are you" would make a difference.
      - intended to join the cooking class, trekking trip, lantern making but was told none of them are available. On our last day we accidentally saw the lantern teacher at the resort and took a class from him on the spot.

The resort is secluded and is more than 45mins away from Hoi An. If location is not a concern I highly recommend this hotel, we're already planning to go back in 3 months!

We spent two nights here in Da Nang. The hotel was located a little bit far away from the city, and we were quite surprised to see how good it looked from the first sight. Here are the things we would like to share:

      Pros:
      1. Rooms live up to the standard of an IC. Nothing to complain about the bedding, shower and etc.
      2. Free shuttle bus to Da Nang city and Hoi An
      3. Friendly staff and welcome fruits

      Cons:
      1. Location is a bit in the middle of nowhere when in the rainy days and less than 20 degrees you cannot do any beach things...so travel here in non summer season, hmm....
      2. Lack of details: the first room we got was large but the curtain could not be completely closed; also push button of hand soap bottle was broken, and the mirror light could not be turned on; the closet light of second room could not be switched off automatically when to shut the door, and front desk staff didn't update us in the room so no TV channels could be viewed... Good that at the end we got something as apologies, but it would be better if they could just improve it.
      3. Service needs to be improved, in terms of efficiency and communication. We booked the shuttle in advance, but the next day we experienced problem to call a pickup from room to concierge, as the staff did not understand us that much. Also it usually took over 30 minutes for the staff to respond to our requests.

As a frequent traveller of IHG and Marriott, I normally don't complain but I do believe the hotel can pay more attention to small details and makes more returning customers.

Fantastic five star resort facilities with great beach and free beach sports. Unfortunately service standards rate about three star plus. Upon arrival our in-room Bose wasn't working, lighted mirror didn't work and the bathroom reeked of urine. Every room should be thoroughly checked before guests arrive - pretty standard routine at five star hotels. Basic requests were consistently reversed e.g. cold coffee vs hot coffee. We were treated like trespassers when we asked the security guard where we could buy spa products. He was the only person around so there was no one else to ask. Turns out there is a spa shop but it's far away from the treatment rooms where the unfriendly security guard was posted by himself. PS. Oh and if you like to use soap, bring your own because there is not a single bar of soap at this resort !

      Da Nang

What an amazing hotel. The setting is perfect. The bay, the beach, the hotel layout, everything is great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Here's whats right with the resort

      The peacefulness.
      The beautiful bay and beach.
The balconies of the rooms and the surf board table.
The willingness of the staff and their friendliness.
The food at the barefoot cafe.
Making the Long Pool adult only is a great idea as it keeps it peaceful and relaxing.

We didn't experience the delay in service for room service or food that other reviewers mention.

      Things that need improvement:

The language skills of the staff. They struggle a lot. We had issues with our voicemail and it took 6 phonecalls to get it resolved. There are other instances where simple questions or requests aren't understood. We wanted 2 large robes but ended with 4 robes, 2 L and 2 M.

More training about being aware of guests and service is needed. At the Barefoot Cafe they have a great member of staff in Ms Nguyen Thi Lieu Phuong. Phuong tries extremely hard and is always willing and friendly. The rest of the team seems a bit aimless and ineffective. Pink shirt managers can spend too much time yakking to guests instead of making sure the team is working effectively.

The housekeeping team hangs out behind the Long Pool and get very loud standing around yakking and gossiping. When they are setting up for an event on the lawn they are just loud.

When they clean your room they don't restock the fridge. They also don't clean the surf board table, which is filthy.

Within the rooms things that could be improved:

There aren't sheer curtains. It means that you can't look out of one of the windows because you look straight into your neighbours.

The balconies have two lovely chairs but no footstools. They have side tables and magazine racks but not footstools.

Within the room there is plenty of storage but not enough seating. There are two luggage racks when if they removed one they could put seating. If you are there when it is raining there just isn't enough seating. Again no footstools for you to chill out in the one armchair in the room.

There are only two hooks in the bathroom. They want you to be environmentally friendly by not having your sheets changed every day, but you don't have that option with your towels because there is nowhere for you hang towels, or swimsuits, bathrobes.

There isn't a simple deli / shop. If you do run out of reading material or sunscreen or if you just want a simple sandwich or snack, you can't get it unless you go into Da Nang.

In summary, we loved our time there and will happily go back. The above comments are meant for improvement. If they can resolve those issues then this place would be perfect.

I've originally booked this hotel for my honeymoon trip, and both my husband and I really looked forward to it. However, due to some urgent commitment, we found out we couldn't make it 2 weeks beforehand. We were really disappointed. At first, the hotel insisted that we couldn't re-schedule our booking. I was really upset, as not only was my honeymoon trip called off, I had to forfeit the money I've paid for the booking. However, after a few rounds of negotiation, the hotel finally agreed to make an exceptional arrangement for us. This is truly the level of customer service offered by a top notch hotel. We really appreciate the thoughtfulness and personalized service of the hotel. We really look forward to our stay next time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
