“hotel for chinese”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Hotel is very good
But the worst thing is terrible noise from guests using Chinese.
Hotel pool is long and reach beach, so it is fantastic.
But the terrible noise disturbed my rest seriously and the pool was always with a splash by uncontrolled guests . The facility of hotel was very excelent but the noise was acute drawback.

A very contemporary / modern design hotel. Design and architecture may not appeal to all tastes but I quite liked it. It looks exactly like the website, so there should be no shocks.
We had a Regency Club rom in block F 2nd floor with a great scenic view of the beach / bay also very convenient for access to the resort restaurant / pools and the Regency club.
Club guest room facilities are excellent, lovely bathroom and fabulous balcony. The resort is very quiet at night.
Service levels at the hotel were very good, all the Vietnamese staff we encountered were extremely polite, attentive, smiley and well trained. We were particularly impressed with a waiter called Vin in in the Pool house restaurant who patiently explained the menu to us and assisted in our food choice, his pride in both the hotel and his own Vietnamese culture were heart-warming.
You have to be patient when communicating with some of the staff as their English pronunciation can be difficult to understand (but they try very hard) and returning their smile gives them extra confidence they need to negotiate the language barrier - if you have a problem with this you can always ask in Vietnamese if your own pronunciation is is up to it.
Staff in the Regency Club lounge were excellent, efficient and very polite. The club lounge design with it's own pool is very modern but very nice. Continental breakfast is adequate (not a great choice) and evening snacks and drinks are good. Although most guests now treat these lounges as all-you-can-eat-buffets, so standards have deteriorated because of the guests attitudes.
Staff deserve a medal for their patience and understanding in dealing with the arrogance and bad manners of some guests and their unruly children.
Unfortunately, the club lounge is not a haven of peace when there is free food on offer it is over-run with badly behaved children and even more badly behaved parents. The staff try hard to maintain order but they are in a difficult situation. However, in August everywhere in Asia is now unfortunately over-run with kids, experienced similar problems in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The only real problem encountered at this hotel were the other guests. When you have a mix of a 5* hotel and mostly 2* guests, whose manners, hygiene and general behaviour are not up to standard you have a problem, but this is not the fault of the hotel. Welcome to the new world order.
Package holiday tourists and cheap bucket seat flights from PRC, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore are turning Danang into the Benidorm of Asia. The shuttle bus to Hoi An is a bun-fight - better to take a taxi. Hoi An is good to see and even better to leave - it is hot, dirty, smelly, very touristy and full of annoying boat tour touts.
A Modern, sophisticated resort, architecturally stunning balconies draped with guests washing - Hmmm I suppose at least we should be grateful there were no national flags hung over these balconies - yet....

Room Tip: Block F 2nd floor

We enjoyed the Hyatt Regency Danang. We spent two weeks travelling up and down the mid East coast of Vietnam with our two young sons and Danag and neighbouring Hoi An were our favorite spots. The beaches are great, safe with easy surf for the boys.
The Hyatt is very new. This is positive - it is clean, modern, with great design and everything just works. Some could say the new design is somewhat clinical and not particularly Vietnamese. But I think it works very well, with good flow, perfect swimming pools, great variety (lots of romantic nooks to enjoy the stunning sun rises and sets plus many areas where kids are safe (and do not disturb other guests!)).
Moreover the staff were great - efficient and friendly.
We thoroughly recommend the Hyatt Regency Danang.

Room Tip: 1) Make the effort to visit Hoi An for day and night trips - great cooking classes, art work, sight...

Strange holiday, we stayed at the Golden Sands in Hoi An which was meant to be the basic bit of the holiday and then the Hyatt at the end for a couple of nights of luxury. As it was we actually much preferred the Golden Sands which was a bit less shiny but had a lot more character and was much more fun.

On the plus side we stayed in a Regency Club Suite which was huge and beautifully equipped. Shame about the bugs though. And the swimming pools were very nice as was the club lounge.

On the negative side if you've ever been to the Barbican in London, this hotel is an Asian equivalent. Horribly laid out, loads of grey concrete and bright paths without an ounce of shade. Then to get downstairs to our suite you have to go down a dark concrete staircase which just felt a bit grim. Also being in the club meant for some reason that you have to have the continental club breakfast and not the main hotel breakfast for which you would have to pay extra. Seemed ridiculous given the fact the club is meant to be better and my package said breakfast included.

Also while the staff were fine it all felt rather wooden and glum compared with the genuine warmth at the Golden Sands who made such a fuss of our kids and even carried them off at various points.

As for location, got no idea why anyone would stay here rather than Hoi An. The area feels very soulless with nothng but a row of big hotels and no good places nearby to eat.

Room Tip: Regency Suite was lovely except for some bugs

I went on this trip to attend a wedding. There were more than 200 people attending the wedding and it was nice. The hotel was nice, new and clean but Most of all I liked the beach. My husband and I stayed at a ground floor room with ocean view and direct access to the beach (actually you had to go past the swimming pool first, but it was nice) The room's design and decor was modern with lots of glass throughout - floor to ceiling glass doors to the garden / beach and also a glass wall separating the bathroom and bedroom. That was a small problem because when I turned on the light to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, it lit up the room and woke my husband.
Food in the club lounge and restaurant was decent, not spectacular, the gym and pools were nice, service was good but the best thing about this resort is the beach. Sunrise at around 5am was spectacular. This is a must do!

We also went to Danang city and Hoi An to eat and shop a little. Not very much to do in either place and was quite a distance, but a pleasant diversion nonetheless. Not as vibrant as Bali, not as much nightlife and things to do outside the resort, but Danang has a nicer beach and a spectacular sunrise.

We stayed 6 nights here and could have easily stayed longer. Fantastic beach, facilities and modern comfortable rooms. We stayed in the Club Ocean view room in F121, view of the ocean was nice and we were on the quiet side not looking over the pool area which was more private.
Rooms were great size, clean, modern, great bathroom and balcony area with seating. They made up the sofa bed for our 6 year old daughter, which was very comfortable.
This is a real family Hotel, pools were great, Camp Hyatt great our daughter loved going there, and we also made the most of the fantastic gym. Shuttle bus was very hard to get onto, to go into Hoi An you need to book 4 hours before going and you will fighting with a que of people doing the same thing, we managed to use this after trying 4 times.
Bagette Deli is very handy which is located down the back behind the Spa area, great for wine, beer and snack food.
We had a club room, so we had our breakfasts & dinners there. I wasn't sure what to expect as others had commented by saying it wasn't enough food. We were surprised how good it was, everything you needed for breakfast, including 3 hot choices, breads, cereals, clod meats, cheeses, salads & more. Dinner & drinks between 5.30-7.30pm was also plenty, we did not need dinner after this, it also included healthy options for vegetarians.
Plenty of families while were there in the club area, but this was due to summer holiday's, most children were behaved, but the odd ones let you know they were there, as the parents turned a blind eye.
The staff were lovely throughout the resort, especially in the Regency Club, Camp Hyatt & Via Fitness.
We would certainly return to this resort, and reccommend to others. Thank you Hyatt Regency!

Room Tip: Club rooms, are in a good convenient area of the resort.
