27 of us took the cable car ride to Ba Na Hills. Our expectation was low after reading many negative reviews. But our day trip turned out to be fun and enjoyable. We were lucky enough to have a sunny day for most of the time. A little mist made the mountain looked mysterious. The views from the cable car was stunning with many waterfalls and views of Da Nang city and the sea.
Fantasy Park was not completed. We made the best of our time to watch some 3D, 4D, 5D movies with a little extra cost. 4 rides came free with our cable car tickets. Food at the restaurant was ok. Good coffee and mango cheese cake at the Fantasy cafe.

Ba Na Hills, a nice resort complexes at a mountain top of the mountain, to get there you only under 1 hours to ride (by bike) from Danang City. When you go there, please expect some rapid change of the weather along with the change of the climate.
When at the mountain foot, it will(and eventually most of the times) very sunny
Boarding the cable car(one of the world's longest cables car system), the scenery is lovely with the tropical forest and waterfall under you.
with about half an hour, with 1 times change the system, it'll lead you to the mountain top.the temperature gap between the mountain foot and the top is about 20 celcius degree, and the weather in the top is rapidly changes, maybe when you arrived it'll be a lot of sunshine, then 10 minutes later, the tropical rain will fall in heavily.
the entertainment complex on the top is now in completing, the hotel is ok then the prices is also will not cost you an arm and a leg.
if you go to Ba Na hills for some splendid extraordinary landscape or adventure, you'll find out that there's nothing there. if you go there, for 1 or 2 days, for relax, or hideaway from the tropical heat, the stress of the city under or any other reason, it's the place to go.

Went there on an organized tour from Hoi An with a group of Vietnamese folks, squeezed into a very small van. The journey to the valley station of the cable car took one hour and it was not very pleasant for this reason. When we boarded the cable car it was sunny so we were hoping for some great views atop the hill. During the ride (some 20 mins) the view was superb (waterfalls, lush tropical forest very close by). The cable car is very new and good quality by Doppelmayer, which we are used to in Europe when skiing. When we got to the top it was already covered in clouds and started to rain very soon. I must admit the attractions on the top I found very poor - without the views towards Danang. We had lunch with the Vietnsmese folks but then simply waited for the trip back and that was it. Tour cost VND 700.000 pp. I would say it is worth it for cable car enthusiasts, or if sunshine and clear skies are guaranteed. Otherwise, just hang out on the beach or in Hoi An...

Hey after reading all the reviews let me put this place in perspective. We are an expat family with kids living in Vietnam. Our visit was great fun. We all really enjoyed it. Essentially Vietnam does not provide many family tourist experiences so this was perfect. You can not expect too much in Vietnam in regards to quality as they have no internal competition for service excellence or tourist destination experiences. This experience is top Vietnamese Quality! But if you come from overseas your view may be different as you have so many other experiences to choose from.
The Cable Car was fun, although we didnt see too much due to the heavy fog. It took about 15 minutes to get to the top. You do pass over some spectacular mountain streams.
The winery was an interesting but very short experience. The tour guide made it interesting, otherwise its a quick walk through. It costs 50,000 vnd to walk through with a glass of wine sample at the end.
The pagoda was interesting but do go inside and leave some incense and stop for a moments reflection to get the most out of it.
The statue of the female Budha was a nice photo opportunity and good for the kids too see.

You needed to get on another cable car to go to the very top where there is an average restaurant serving food and also accommodation and a Fantasy Park. The Fantasy Park is a Family Entertainment Center(FEC) (not a theme park) but its of extreme high quality. In fact the highest quality FEC in all of Vietnam and some of Asia. Well done to the operators. It offers some rides for Free of Charge as well as some pay for play rides. Lots of amusement machines in the FEC too. The attendance was small due to low season which meant food areas were also closed. So dont expect a theme park, its a family entertainment center thats lots of fun and extremely high quality - probably wrongly placed at the top of the mountain but take it for what it is and enjoy it. I was impressed with the staff who did not give great friendly service excellence but followed procedures in regards to safety and good safe operation of the rides. Obviously some international influence has helped develop and reinforce their SOP's for the facility. I would love to deliver some service excellence training to the staff. This is a FEC thats growing and developing with future plans for expansion and more attractions. Would love to see how it develops. Certainly one of a kind here in Vietnam.
So on top of the mountain do not expect just a nature and cultural experience!
Overall a FUN, Well Spent Day - Vietnamese Style!

(getting there: book the tour - its no hassle, it most likely will work out cheaper than hiring your own transport, and then not knowing where to go when you get there. The tourist sites are spread over a large mountain top!)
