Owner description: Danang Golf Club is situated on the fledgling central coast of Vietnam amid 150 hectares of dunescape similar to what the world’s first golf courses were carved from. Its chief feature is a 7,160-yard, 18-hole, links-style layout that was designed in the true spirit of the game — blown-out bunkers, firm and fast fairways that bleed gently into wild seaside vegetation, rugged waste areas, swales and hollows — by Australian golf legend and former world No. 1 Greg Norman. It lies in close proximity to two of Vietnam’s most historic destinations — UNESCO World Heritage sites Hoi An and Hue — and offers breathtaking views of the Marble Mountains, East Sea and Cham Islands.

This is a truly lovely course. Opened in 2010, the facilities are first rate. Tough course for beginners (I am one) but very enjoyable. Caddies are excellent, as was my Vietnamese instructor. Hired clubs which were pretty much brand new. Also used the driving range quite a bit, which has a lovely mountainous backdrop. Chose this course following Reading Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed.

By contrast with the majority of Asia’s golf courses, Danang boasts magnificent fast-running couch grass fairways and huge undulating Tiff Dwarf greens that claim to be ‘the fastest in Asia’. Whilst there’s plenty of sand with several huge ‘waste’ bunkers, this is not a penal nor unduly difficult Greg Norman course, and again, unlike other Asian courses, the fairways are not bounded by impenetrable jungle, but rather by rough that offers recovery options from a bare sandy lie. The firm, wide fairways and bunkers cut right into the greens amongst natural sand dunes create the kind of sporty golf much loved by links enthusiasts or those familiar with Melbourne’s famed Sand Belt.

Norman’s designer Harley Kruse has extracted much from this excellent site, a highlight for me was the greenside bunkering that often calls for a risky shot that then utilises the slope of the green to trickle down to the pin.

The course’s signature par-3 16th hole backs onto a pristine white beach with views of the Cham Islands in the distance. A visit to these islands affords a cultural journey and the opportunity to snorkel amongst coral and feast on land-dwelling crabs.

Danang Golf Course was a special course where a group of 8 of us played recently. The course was professionally managed and the fairways and greens were well manicured. The course is one of the best we've played in Vietnam.

I was surprised at the quality of this layout. the presentation of the fairways and greens was of very high standards. The layout presented multiple options for hit and reward golf and could bite you for greedy play. The green are of generous size and nicely paced to cater for golfers of all standards. The staff and caddies made this such and enjoyable round and to be greeted by the manager after the round for a relaxing chat made it easy to return 2 days later. Thank you Danang Golf Club.

A nice course that takes advantage of the surrounds very well, Greg Norman knows how to design a course. Its not a cheap round (About $120 for the green fee's before extra's) but if you play golf and know that nice courses cost money then that wont be an issue.
