Fusion Maia Da Nang
Ranked #5 of 286 Hotels in Da Nang
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 26, 2012

Pros:
1) Staff are (for the most part) very friendly, polite, helpful, and cheerful.
2) Hotel offers shuttle bus service to Hoi An
3) Quick/prompt check-in and iPad can be borrowed at no charge (for spa & beach villas)
4) Bathroom is spacious with two (his & her) sinks
5) Buffet breakfast (at Five restaurant) has a wide range of choice and is of high standard
6) Food at Fresh poolside restaurant is good (much better than expected). Recommend eating here for lunch / dinner vs. Five restaurant - the banh mi and vermicelli are yummy!
7) Lovely long stretch of beach - go for a long walk and enjoy the view
8) Free WiFi in the resort, including rooms

Cons:
1) Shuttle service to Hoi An needs to be more frequent for guest convenience. At present, the day-time options are to travel there at 9:00 or 14:00 and return at 14:45 or 19:45, i.e. somewhat limited!
2) Abysmal late check-out service - we requested a late check-out of 1.30pm (48h in advance of the day of check-out) and were informed that they would let us know if this was not possible. The reception staff never got in touch to say that late check-out could not be accommodated, so we planned our final day with a check-out of 1.30pm in mind. The reception then contacted us at 12:10pm on our final day to inform us that late check-out was not possible, and requested we check-out immediately. Suffice to say, this is not 5* service. We complained that they could have informed us earlier but they said that we were uncontactable due to having spa appointments booked at 10am. A note under our room door, or a message with the spa reception, would have helped, or perhaps, a call before 10am....This inevitably is the lasting impression of the hotel that we have taken away with us.
3) Bear in mind that if you go during the rainy / monsoon season in winter, it can rain a lot (sometimes everyday and for prolonged periods) and you will most likely have very little to do in the resort given that it's too cold/unpleasant to swim in the pool or sea and that spa treatments are limited to 2 per day (you will struggle to get more than 2 appts per day). There is a games room, but there is only so much ping pong, playstation and pool/snooker that one can play...!
4) The spa is ok, not top-notch. The staff seem to be trained to do the whole spectrum of spa services - massage, manicure/pedicure, hair wash, facials etc - so don't expect them to be specialists at any of the services. Book a day massage over a night massage if your itinerary permits - we had 5 night massages and 1 day, and the day massage stood out as being the best, in terms of quality and professionalism. Coincidently, the day massage was on our final day, so it could be attributed to special treatment (to leave a lasting impression)!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback as well as the constructive criticism to help us improve our services. We have records of the request for complimentary upgrade to the beach villa on arrival, which we were not able to fullfill and were only able to offer a special rate which was unfortunately declined. We take all the feedback to heart, but most importantly we wish that we were able to rectify the miscommunication regarding late check out, which was clearly our mistake and not our usual standards. Our duty manager met once again on departure to apologize , but we understand that this is a last impression that is difficult to rectify on a last day. We will ensure to follow up and ensure this does not happen again. Thank you once again!

Amazing 3 nights here! Wonderful staff with a superb customer ethic, excellent design and features, fabulous all-inclusive spa, great food....they've thought about everything. The villas are beautiful with stunning private pools, coffee machines and fully loaded iPods with a nice sound system! I'm running out of superlatives! Make sure you have breakfast on the beach one morning if the weather permits and schedule plenty of time to relax and enjoy the resort! Well done Fusion Maia - keep up the good work! I'll be back for sure!

So great to see all the feedback in the last reviews about our "fusion stars". We have just recently had some fun training for every single fusion star in our team, focused on guest care using heart-to-heart connections and each using their own natural style & smiles!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying 2 nights here during my FAM trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The experience at Fusion Maia exceeded ALL of my expectations! I nearly broke down in tears when I walked into my own private pool villa the evening I arrived. From the amazing accommodation, most customer-centric and friendly staff to the included spa treatments and amazing food - Fusion Maia is bar-none, the best place I've stayed in my life. I recommend this great retreat/property to all of my clients traveling to Vietnam / DaNang. No big surprise that it is #1 on tripadvisor! Keep up the amazing work :)

We have just spent eight glorious days at this wonderful place. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We needed a break where we just relaxed and this was the place. The spa treatments were fantastic and very professional, I even got my husband having a full body mud wrap and facial! The food was fresh and 5 star in presentation and quality. Breakfast anywhere anytime is a great idea and on the beach was a fabulous start to our day. The shuttle bus to Hoi An was a bonus, great place to shop. We took a day tour of Da Nang and Marble mountain organised by the resort and it was great value and gave us a tour of our area. Our travel agent Gai Fardell-Travelworld Orange, gave us a bonus cooking class with Red Bridge Cooking School, it was a great day and we got to see a lot more of the Hoi An area.

Having traveled the world and seen quite a few very nice places and hotels - fusion maia is definitely on the very top of my list. The did a fine job with this not too big place, but big enough to have great privacy in the villas. We spent a friend's birthday there and rented some 20+ houses and got treated like kings. All our wishes were immediately fullfilled, the staff was extraordinary in making everything possible, the beach party was the best we have ever had - and all the over friendly employees. Just perfect. I will definitely come back as this is my top place to go in Vietnam.

I hesitate to tell you truthfully how wonderful this place is, in fear of not being able to get a reservation to come back as soon as I possibly can! There is nothing I would change about Fusion Maia Da Nang. The friendly smiles from EVERY single staff member, their efforts to remember my name, the tranquil and meticulous gardens, the trickling water, the views, the luxurious privacy of the pool villas, the indulgent spa treatments, and the FOOD...I don't know which benefit outweighs the other. I cannot wait to return.
There is a complimentary shuttle into and out of Hoi An, and the use of the Lounge in the town is quite helpful on hot days. If you take a taxi from Da Nang airport it costs about US$10-$15 including the airport surcharge.

The resort and service are both great and the complimentary spa is everything that you would want it to be. Pool villas are brilliant, plenty of space and a good size pool

Huge infinity pool which is particularly spectacular at night, the only downside is that you will have to travel to get into Hoi An or Danang (Hoi An is much better....) using the free shuttle bus.

The breakfast buffet is the best that I have had.

If you want a few days at a resort to get away from it this is a great choice.
