“Pit stop in Da Nang”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

After arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, we directly travelled on to Da Nang. Only for a night, as we were leaving to Hoi An the next day. We just wanted to get a good nights sleep, breakfast and a walk around the area in the morning. The hotel had arranged a taxi to pick us up from Da Nang airport for 5 dollars. It was nice not having to worry about that, and the driver was friendly. It was a short drive to the hotel. Checking in was very quick. We were pleasantly surprised with our room; spacious, comfortable and most of all clean. Breakfast in the morning was good, and staff were friendly. Overall a good experience. We didn't spend much time in Da Nang as our main goal was to get to Hoi An as soon as we could the next day.

We stayed in this hotel for one night in mid February. We arrived in Vietnam during Tet (the Chinese/Vietnamese new year). This was a nightmare as we did not realize and booking transport and hotels proved very difficult. When we arrived in Da Nang getting a taxi was very difficult as none of the taxi drivers wanted to take us to the hotel as the fare would be too small. They did not want to take you unless you were going further a field to china beach or Hoi An. We eventually found a taxi to take us to the hotel after walking away from the train station with some negotiation.

When we arrived at the hotel, the girl at the front desk was very welcoming and provided us with a map of the area. The room was spacious and clean with a massive bed. However we went looking for something to eat and this proved difficult. The girl at the front desk told us that the nearest restaurants were down by the river. A lot of the restaurants were closed, leaving very little choice. We did manage to find a shopping center where we picked up some snacks. Breakfast was okay, my biggest complaint was the confusion of our breakfast voucher with staff. We gave the voucher to one staff member and a few minutes later another member of staff came looking for the voucher and seemed very dubious that we had already given it to another staff member.

Overall nice clean hotel but its lacking in amenities in the area.

This hotel is in the center of DaNang. So you can walk to all central sites. Danang really isn't much of a tourist town, and most everything downtown is near. There is a big central market a few blocks away. A large area to stroll along the river nearby. Its full of sculptures and at night its full of people to watch, and the bridge lights up in colors so go at night for a walk around the river area. Watch the people out and about.

The tub in the room had a huge step up to get into. Would be difficult for an older person or those with limited mobility. The room had a mini fridge and prices were not that steep..esp for one local drink that was really cheap and good!

The breakfast area is in the open air lobby. Basic breakfast. Also a big aquarium there so you can watch the fish if you like.

I found few foreigners out and about when walking in Danang. So ...people were actually nice and happy to see foreigners! A welcome change!!!!

One fun thing to do is to go to the school down the road, exit hotel, cross street and turn right and its up a few blocks. Its actually quite fun to watch all the parents come get their kids and see the whole family all on one little moped. Good photo ops....Cute kids! Wish I could tell you the hour they get out but I cant....somewhere around 330p? 400p??

Danang has miles of beaches but there was a strong wind coming in from sea all the time out there so I never went there other than for a few quick pics. Wind and blowing sand and no one out there. Maybe that's why the beach hotels were so cheap!

If your in town for business or other reasons remember HoiAn is only about 25 min away by car ! It's touristy but very nice and the favorite stop for most visitors in Vietnam. If you got time to kill go there! The old part of HoiAn is small and walkable with countless shops and places to eat.
If you have a whole day there you can have shirts or something easy made to order and ready in 5 hours or so. I ordered two. Picked the color, picked the fabric, picked the sew on design on one, and they were at my hotel in 5 hours. $13 each. Good deal.

Back the this Dai A Hotel, I was very happy there for what I paid and would stay there again!

Room Tip: If you think a high tub would be difficult, as to see the room first.

We booked two, but happily extended to four nights stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms large and clean, the breakfast is good, laundry service absolutely tops at a reasonable price.
The location is worth the stay. The Cathedral and the market are minutes away; the bus service to Hoi An picks you up every 20 minutes in front of the Cathedral. The river and the river promenade with its marble statues is five minutes walk away.

An average hotel. Not too old, but not new either. We booked this hotel simply to be closer to the airport early in the morning, therefore we checked in late at night and really only spent 10-12 hours in the room.

Room was acceptable:-
- basic bathroom amenities
- massive bed but very uncomfortable
- air conditioning
- hot water
- typical a la carte breakfast menu (eggs, noodles, soup, bread/butter/jam, fruit)

The woman at the reception desk was gorgeous, charming. She spoke lovely English and checked up on us while eating breakfast.

This hotel is located in the center of DaNang and therefore closer to the airport if you fly out.
There are not really any tourist attractions close by but some good local restaurants and bars.
Most happenings are across the bridge towards the beaches and the fancier hotels. The rooms are nice, very clean, TV, fridge, A/C, nice shower and of course WIFI. Breakfast was very basic but ok. The staff was very helpful and laundry service is cheap and fast, as in most places in Vietnam.

Room Tip: there is a old and new section of the hotel, we stayed at the new one

Within walking distance to Cham Museum and 5 minutes away from Han Market and the beautiful Han River. Cheap restaurants and middle range restaurants are nearby. The receptionist speaks excellent English and arranged for our transport to Ba Na Mountains and the Marble Mountain with a reasonable charge. There is a staff who speaks Mandarin too. We stayed at the new building. Everything was new and clean. It is a 2-star hotel but we felt that it was more like a 3-star.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the new block.
