Description: Bread of Life has been serving quality, fresh and authentic Western food since 2005 and belongs to Jean-Luc Briastre a Frenchman who loves Vietnam. I bought Bread of Life Restaurant (BoL Restaurant) in 2015. My restaurant was founded by American missionaries to provide work to the hearing impaired and more recently, widowed mothers, and retired people with no pension. Bread of Life Restaurant operates like any other restaurant; our income depends entirely on our business. We are proud that we produce quality meals and service while also providing employment to persons who normally would not be considered employable. We thank you so much for helping us to continue to offer employment to our special population and employees, as well as convivial meeting place for Western ex-pats Vietnam.

“Delightful place for a leisurely brunch”

Food is good as long as you are not expecting gourmet quality. Kind of homely comfort food done resonably well. Service staff are deaf but attentive. Vietnamese coffee is outstanding - caffeine hyperdrive!

“Great Western-Style Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

I swung in here before catching a train in the morning, and the breakfast was awesome. The prices are pretty cheap and the food was what you would expect for a taste from home.

We met the owner who was a nice guy with a slight mid-western/southern accent and explained that we had to stop by given its #1 status on Tripadvisor. He was very friendly and only complemented the very friendly staff. They go out of their way to hire hearing impaired servers, so they're also doing great things for the community.

The lunch items on the menu looked delicious too, just bummed I wasn't around to test them out. Regardless, if you want some western dishes, this is the place to go in Da Nang.

“Great food, service and cause”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

Good choice of American style options I had the burger and fries and tomato ketchup all of which were home made and so good, as was the bun on which it all sat

The food is made by the deaf folks who are watching over by the lovely Kathleen the Mom of this project.

She flits in between the tables coming to talk to each of her guests while still managing to run mini-training sessions with her deaf staff and a newby staff member

This place is generosity incarnate as they got my order wrong and I got fries I did not order but which she insisted I would not pay for

Shortly afterwards she offered me a free iced coffee as there was excess left over from another customer and she did not want it to go to waste

I will be back again tomorrow for a second time

Service was warm and super friendly and its appreciated if you wave and engage with the deaf here they will teach you some basic sign language do you can

Thoroughly enjoyable and well worth a visit its up at the top end of the waterfront just off the main drag. By the way the address in the Rough Guide is incorrect its Dong Da Street number 4 and on right hand side just after the roundabout

“Great food, great service, great way to help”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

I've been going to Bread of Life for a year now, and it's kept the same great quality of service the whole time. If you ever want polite western style service without a huge price tag then come here. The food is great and they keep expanding their menu. Its a good way to support their deaf staff too.

“Help the Deaf in Vietnam”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Love the philosophy of these guys : the disabled do not want sympathy, they want opportunity. Bread of Life is fulfilling this and if you want to help them as well as get a good meal at fair prices, then this is the place to go.
