Can't add anything to all the positives-other than to say this is the best place we've stayed in
Asia,
What is astonishing is the prices for services.
Laundry costs $2 per kilo.
In our room at the Betel Garden Homestay, I paid 50 US cents for a 440 mil bottle of Larue beer-that's not a typo, -25 cents for a bottle of purified water, 60 cents for a can of Coke. If you want to go upmarket a can of Heineken will set you back a dollar. It's all there on the mini bar price list.
Meals cost about $6 eg Deep fried chicken or sauteed chicken with lemongrass and chilli. Soups are $2:50.
And I will add something,- the staff, Hien, Vang, Tien, Dong and owner Mrs Le are what set
the Betel Garden Homestay apart. Many thanks for the thoughtful parting gift.

We'll be back.

We truly enjoyed our stay of 3 nights at the Betel Garden. We paid $17 to be picked up at the Da Nang train station and enjoyed the ride down to Hoi An (Da Nang's beach drive on the divided and landscaped highway looks like South Florida with new hotels and hi-rise condos going up everywhere!). We were warmly greeted at the hotel, and escorted to our room on the second floor, then we were able to move to a ground floor room only a few steps from the outdoor restaurant and pool. The staff could not have been more friendly and gracious, addressing us by name at breakfast. Rooms are very large with high ceilings. As other reviewers have mentioned, our second night we were invited to dinner with all the other guests to a great meal complimentary! Location is very good. A pretty good walk to town but taxis are very cheap (as everything else in Hoi An). Beach is a short cab ride (or take one of their free bicycles!), and for the price of a drink you can lounge on a umbrellas covered beach chair at the restaurants and hotels lining the water.....

Also, the hotel helped us out patiently to find us onward train tickets to Nha Trang (tip, book as far ahead as possible, the trains are packed). We can certainly recommend this unique lodging!

Spacious and clean rooms. Very friendly and attentive staff. When we were invited to join the other guests for dinner, we hesitated but fortunately we went and had a wonderful evening with great food. We were served 4 different courses, dessert and drinks - and there was food left, so nobody had to leave hungry. Breakfast is great and with lots of choices. Free bikes are available, so it is very easy to reach the centre of Hoi An. Definitely highly recommended.

What you see in the photos are what you get. The staff are very friendly and even invited us for dinner with all the guests on a Friday night (tho if you're a big eater, it may be advisable to eat a little beforehand). Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is superb, better than most meals I had in Hoi An ancient town itself.
However, if you are one who prefers walking around more than taking taxis, you might want to consider staying in the centre of Hoi An ancient town or near the beach to see the sunrise (an amazing experience). Hoi An ancient town is only 1km by bicycle but it's a bit of a hassle once you are in town, pulling your bike everywhere.

This was our second stay at the Betel Garden, and again we were blown away by the amazing and tentative staff. This would have to be the friendliest place I have ever stayed. Nothing is too much for any of the staff and they are always happy to enjoy a chat and give advice. The rooms are large and clean. Breakfast is very good - actually all their meals are very good. There is a nice pool, free use of bikes to ride to the beach or into town. We had such a wonderful time we are seriously thinking of returning again next year.

This place is a large garden with a number of bungalows about a mile east of the old town of Hoi An. When you see the shabby surroundings, you may have difficulties believing it is really such a well looked after place, but once your in the premises, it is almost like a miracle. Staff is extremely friendly, the restaurant has good, not overpriced food especially for breakfast (try the pancakes - really yummy) and lunch, and the rooms (we had a bungalow for the four of us, one king sized bed and two small beds for our boys) are spacious, with a fan and a perfectly working air condition and free, continuously working Wifi. As other travellerers have pointed out, moskitos are quite a pest here in the region, so ist good to use the moskito nets provided by the hotel. Apart from the practical use, it is great fun for the kids... The hotel offers you free bicycles which you can use for going to the old town (it is farer away than you first think) and the beach (both about a 10 - 15 minutes bike ride along one of the main roads, traffic is, for Vietnamese standards, pretty low). At the beach, you can get free deck chairs at one of the Restaurants there if you order a drink. We went on from Hoi An to Hué with a private car also organised by the hotel with a driver who evven spoke some English.
