“Our second visit”

Good welcome with the same staff as last year. Fresh fruit in the fridge on arrival. Extra facilities in the room this year were a safe and electric kettle. The building is tired but does have character. Room was spotlessly clean, good selection for breakfast, Vietnemese and Western.

I really liked this hotel for its charm and excellent level of service. The rooms are nice, but it's the people that make this hotel a find. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the staff and I absolutely loved it! The local food in the hotel restaurant is pretty good too. Overall it was a great experience for a good price.

I was a group of seven 25-ish year olds who stayed at Hai Au for four nights. We had a lovely stay and it was the favourite place of many of my group. The reason it is so great is the staff and service; they are all simply wonderful. Sally in particular was really great and helpful - organising our train to Hanoi, giving us a run down of the town on our first morning and sorting out a cooking school class. We also hired bikes from the hotel (they were all a bit dodgy) to go to the beach which was really fun. Just wandering around Hoi An is enough to entertain you - it is such a lovely town. The hotel itself was getting a little old, but super clean and the breakfast was delicious each morning (have some of the banana pancake, so good!). Overall, a great choice :)

Hotel is in very good location, 10 min walk to ancient town, 15 min cycle to Cau Dai Beach (bikes hired from hotel for 20,000 dong but not well maintained). Good clean rooms, free water each day, fresh fruit in room on arrival, decent safe. Friendly reception staff speak good english. Buffrt Breakfast is awesome - best we've had in Vietnam & Thailand in one month here. Fresh fruit inc dragon, mango, papaya, banana, water melon, pineapple. pastries, eggs cooked to order, cheese, bacon , vietnamese soups cooked to order, dumplings, ginger tea (lovely) coffee toast baguettes!! Couldnt want for more. Didnt eat in hotel restaurant but lots of people do.
Only negative was that we asked for a quote for travel to Quy Nhon and their quote was very high.. they suggested a driver for the two of us to Danang $17 then train to Quy Nhon $28 each... saying that buses were full ....we ended up booking a tourist bus down the road from Hoi Anh to Quy Nhon for $13 each total.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our first night was on New Year's Eve, we were due to arrive at the train station at 10ish. The train was delayed 3 hours and the driver waited for us!! Arrived to hotel at 2am and were greeted by a member of staff and someone to carry our bags.
-our room had a very big bed and a balcony. The bathroom was ok also and we had plenty of towels. We had no noise complaints like some other reviews and we were on the 4th floor.
-breakfast is a buffet with pancakes (sometimes cold but still yummy!), lots of fruit, mini croissants, toast, bread rolls and eggs made to order. You can fill you plate as much as you want, which is great and this was the best breakfast we've had so far!!
-staff were very attentive and friendly. They lent us 2 big towels to take to the beach and organised a bus transfer from nha trang to Saigon. Very friendly girls!
- it's about a 10 minute walk to the middle of the town and about a 20 min cycle to cua dai beach. We hired electric bikes, which were very easy to use and we went to an bang beach which was really nice and a little bit further. Took about 30 mins on electric bikes.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 days. The staff were lovely and always smiling. They remembered everyones names so it felt very at home. On New Year they put small bags containing a bit of money on the tree in the lobby and gave it to all of their guests. This was lovely.
The hotel was very noisy. .we stayed on the ground floor close to the reception and were woken daily at around 7 by a lot of laughing screaming and chatter. I think the staff are very attentive and excitable but first thing in the morning was a bit annoying.
The breakfast was ok, choice of fruits, cakes/pancakes, toast, eggs and a couple of asian dishes. Apart from the eggs, everything else was cold such as bacon etc
The location is decent..about a 15 minute walk to the old quarter..
Hoi An was a beautiful place and I liked the hotel a lot..but gave it an average score due to the noise and breakfast.
