Agree with all others who have singled out the great team on reception. We had a superior room which had a small balcony and a computer in the room. We found the speed good. The room was lovely, and we did get water every day. Loved getting in the pool after all that sticky sightseeing! Good pool towels thick and large. Agree with comment about bedroom towels which were a little on the grey and thin side but were changed every day so guess they wont cause any problems. It is out of centre which we liked but centre about 5 mins+ walk so no real problem and it was much quieter. We found a SUPERB restaurant on the way in to the old town and loved it so much we didnt want to eat anywhere else! See my review...(it is now about 16th in list but is seriously under-rated there.

Just outside the main part of town, so a lot quieter. Very friendly staff, who learn your name and greet you using your name whenever you see them. It was my husbands birthday on the day we arrived, a few hours after we checked in he was given a birthday cake which was a lovely gesture and tasted pretty nice. The staff were also very helpful in organising tours etc and there English was brilliant. They were the most helpful staff we had whilst on our 3 week trip. The room was spacious and there was fresh fruit in the fridge which was complimentary. We used the laundry service which was great and our clothes came back smelling so fresh. The breakfast was quite good, there was a variety of dishes both western and Vietnamese and they seemed to vary each day. Free wi-fi was good. Our only problem was the room was a bit noisy at night, we seemed to be near some kind of generator which went off through-out the night but all in all a great hotel would definitely go back there again.

Had a very enjoyable 2 days at this great hotel in Hoi An. Our room was spacious and very clean. Jummy, Sally and Anna (reception staff) seem to somehow remember every guests name and nothing is too much trouble for them to help you. Free wifi throughout and a good breakfast. Will look no further should I ever return to Hoi an. A great place to base yourself.

This hotel has alot going for it - terrific service, spacious airy rooms with balconies, computer in the room, nice pool, plentiful and variable breakfast, awesome tailor owned by the hotel across the road, and lots of interesting tours avaliable. However, compared to excellent hotels like the Orchid in Hue and Hanoi Elegance a few small details let it down. Many of the towels had muddy stains on them, free water is provided on day 1 only, the water pressure in the shower is weak, internet speed and outside noise is variable across rooms (we moved to a quieter room over the restaurant but internet speed was much slower), and the location is a 15 minute walk to the part of town with the best bars and restaurants. This is being very picky though in a country that provides excellent hotels at a fraction of the cost back home.

My husband and I stayed at the Hai Au Hotel during our 3 week holiday in Vietnam. Without a doubt this is the best hotel we stayed at during our holiday. The staff speak good english - something that many other hotels don't have. The friendliness of the staff from the minute we arrived and were greeted when we were gettting out of our taxi to the time we left was amazing. They were most helpful in booking tours, massages (the best) taxis etc - nothing was too much trouble and always a smile and interest in what we were doing. The breakfast was very good. The room was clean, comfy bed with a welcoming swan made from towels sitting on it when we arrived. We could not fault this hotel. We were sad to leave.

My friend and I stayed at the Hai Au for three nights in March. The hotel facilities are excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean and provide privacy and quiet. The position of the hotel, 1 km from the beach and within walking distance of the Old Town is a happy balance between the two.
The outstanding feature of this hotel however is the quality of customer service.
I have never before stayed at a hotel where the staff anticipate and deliver your requirements as well as the Hai Au does.
The women who work on the front desk have developed customer service to an art form which they deliver in the most friendly way.
Guests are treated like part of a big family and nothing is too much trouble.
This is a very unique, refreshing and unforgettable experience when you are travelling.
The staff are a credit to the hotel and the experience made me want to stay in Hoi An a lot longer than I had planned. I will return to this hotel next year.
Thank you girls for your friendship and the great experience

We stayed at the Hai Au Hotel for a few days in April last year and had such a lovely time we decided to come back again this year and stay for a week. Once again we were greeted like family -- it was like we had never left. The Hai Au is a family run business and the staff are treated very well so they are happy. This feeling is passed onto the guests and makes it stand out as a happy place to stay. The hotel has an old world charm with high ceilings, french architecture - french doors, timber ceilings, tiled floors, solid carved timber furniture and has a swimming pool which is great for the hotter months. The room we stayed in Room 308 was quiet and comfortable with cable tv, dvd player, fridge, desk with computer, free wifi, bath, blow dryer, toiletries, fresh fruit in fridge and Jasmine tea in foyer on arrival. The breakfasts have fresh tropical fruit like mangoes, watermelon, dragon fruit, rambutans, bananas, paw paw and pineapple. There are eggs to order and vietnamese dishes like beef pho and cao lau. I had my birthday during our stay and was given a delicious cake and beautiful flowers. The girls sang Happy Birthday. We all went out for lunch to the Bale Well Restaurant for wrap and roll Viet spring rolls and BBQ. Fabulous food and value. We've had several meals in the hotel restaurant and really enjoyed the pork noodle soup, fresh spring rolls, mango shake and banana pancakes. The hotel staff can organise good tours at reasonable prices to the spa, cooking classes, fishing villages, motorbike tours etc. The Hai Au hotel has a multicultural array of guests including Aussies, Kiwis, British, Americans, Malaysians, French, Korean, and a large group of Norwegian students stay at the hotel every year to attend university in Hoi An as part of an exchange program. Bikes can be hired for less than $1 per day for riding around the town and out to the beach from Minh outside the hotel, She also sells water and snacks etc.
We had leather shoes made at a Be Be Shoe shop near the hotel - at $20 USD for 1 pair stylish sandals. We also had several outfits made at the tailors attached to the hotel and another tailo called Nhat Silk - Number One Design at 36 Tran Hung Dao St. The indian restaurant called Ganesh is close to this tailor and the food is fantastic.
We can highly recommend this friendly, safe hotel and charming town. The hotel has a good map which shows the sits of temples, assembly halls and other important tourist info. Don't miss this charming hotel and place when you come to Vietnam.
