Owner description: Cham islands are 15km from Cua Dai. There are seven islands altogether named according to their shape or characteristics. They are called Lao ( pear ), Dai ( long ), La ( leaf), Kho ( dry ),Tai ( ear ),Mo ( tomb ) and Nom ( East Wind ). They have good climate, cool the year round, trees and animals as well as marine life are plentiful here. On the island, there are precious bird nests while under the water, the coral is marvelous. There are also scenic spots around the island, such as Suoi Tinh ( Love stream), Suoi Ong ( Sir’s stream ), Hon Chong ( Piled up rocks ),Hang Ba ( The lady’s cave ). the island is also surrounded by very nice beaches with clean white sand and transparent, cool water.

Did a locally run snorkeling tour. Was all very friendly, well worth the cheap price, and just lovely to have clean warm water to swim about in. Nothing rushed, lunch on the island was adequate. I would recommend this day tour option. I'm from Australia, so it's pretty hard to beat our Great Barrier Reef, but the snorkeling was captivating nonetheless.

Beautiful and unspoilt! We dived here and snorkelled. Had the most delicious lunch on the beach after our diving. Absolutely gorgeous!

We were picked up at the hotel at 7:30, but spend a full hour picking up other tourist in Hoi An until the minibus was fully loaded. After arriving at the port we were put in one of the many boats and were brought to a terrible museum and then a simple temple. What a waste of time!! We still haven't figured out why we were brought here, since we thought we'd booked a snorkeling trip.

Finally we went to the snorkeling spot, which was packed with tourists from numerous other boats. They provided crappy goggles and no flippers (!). And with all these people in the water, the fish were long gone. We spend an hour there and then left.

To our surprise, all other boats left at the same time. I suggested to the guide that we should have come an hour later or earlier to stay out of the "snorkeling rush hour", but don't think he got the message (although he had just explained that the many tourist in the water chased off the fish).

Then we moved to a beach with palm trees to have lunch. A lovely place, but also here were way too many tourists and boats. Food was reasonably ok, but couldn't make up for all the frustration that we'd built up by then.

After lunch we were told that we needed to leave early because of the weather. We did see some clouds and its the start of the rainy season, so we assumed that bad weather was coming. When back on the boat I asked if the weather was really that bad, because the cloudy sky seemed a strange reason to leave the beach. The guy said that it would be raining tomorrow. I gave up trying to understand why we left early because of tomorrow's rain..

My friend and I purchased tickets to Cham island from one of the Tourist offices in town. On the morning of the tour we waited outside our hotel for 1 hour, having been told that we' d get picked up at 7.30. When we arrived at the port it was total chaos. We waited around for another 40 minutes while the locals tried to sort out who was going on which boat. We were taken snorkeling, given masks but no snorkels. There were a few fish and some coral. The swim was nice but don't expect to see anything of interest in the water. We were then taken to Cham island. What a waste of time. Lunch was mediocre and the beach overcrowded and dirty. We felt like we were being herded around all day, no commentary or explanation about anything. We were left to wander why the island is actually a tourist attraction.

We normally do a pretty good job planning our activities, so we don't write too many bad reviews but this was terrible. What a waste of a day. First they took us to the main village in town. It was very jam packed with people on day trips to the island. I mean really jam packed. And there was absolutely nothing there, just a D grade museum, a small simple temple and a bunch of locals selling cheap knick knacks. Next we got back on the boat and went to the snorkel location. When they dumped the bag of old snorkel gear with no flippers onto the floor of the boat, I could tell it his was bad news. Then I stuck my finger into one of the snorkels and it came out black. Meanwhile, e people that did get in the water were reporting back that they could only see a couple fish and that they were getting stung by small jellies. I love snorkeling, but for the first ever I stayed in the boat. After "snorkeling" we had an okay lunch, then an hour at an okay beach, then home. If you have an extra day in Hoi An, don't go to Cham Island. Go to the beautiful beach in Da Nang or do a day trip to Hue. Far better.
