Spent two nights here and couldn't fault it. Spacious airy feel to hotel and room, which was spotless, massive comfortable bed and location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the old town. ATM and minimarket next door. Only drawback might be if you're not too mobile: no lift. Lovely small (cold!) pool which was a great relief after a few hours sightseeing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with city view and balcony. Rooms facing out over the internal courtyard with pool a...

Lovely rooms around a small central courtyard with pool.
Pros
Lovely helpful staff
Small but but comfortable room with only shower.
Very good location for visiting town.
Super restaurant with good breakfast and meals all day again with helpful staff
Cons
No net curtains on windows which all face inwards so either sit in dark or be seen from courtyard and other rooms.

We had 2 rooms between 6 people, one with a double and a single, and one with 2 singles and a rollaway. Can easily say that rollaway bed was the worst any of us had ever experienced. Was just a pile of springs covered by a sheet of fabric. The rollaway also came with no top sheet and a scummy blanket. After calling for a sheet and proper duvet we put up with the bed for that night. However after an awful nights sleep we complained and were put in a room with 3 singles for our remaining 2 nights. Our 2 rooms, even originally were also at opposite sides and different floors of the hotel which was not ideal for travelling as a family.

Other than the rooms, our stay at Vinh Hung was fine, with the location really being the thing that made it for us, a quick walk into the middle of the Old Town, oh and the Banana pancakes at breakfast were amazing!

Would recommend this hotel, assuming you didn't need a pull our bed.

In the 16th and 17th century, the old town of Hoian was the international trading centre of southern Vietnam.

The Chinese, Dutch, Indian, Japanese and many other foreign traders set up their emporiums and established their residences.

Fortunately for visitors today, much of this quaint town remains intact.

All within walking distance from the Vinh Hung 2 Hotel (where I stayed) are some wonderful examples of those earlier centuries.

The architecture is stunning. I strolled across the Japanese Covered Bridge – as robust today as when it was first built, stepped carefully inside very old, ornately furnished Chinese merchants homes, gawked at the finest examples of ceramic art in a museum, watched the craftsmen and women hand-form a staggering array of clay pots, visited temples of many religious persuasions and spent time (and a few million dong) in small shops offering a bewildering choice of locally made goods.

The hotel I mentioned earlier, is a real star. Smack in the centre of the town. Large enough to cope but small enough to ooze hospitality. It was a joy talking to the staff, all eager to please and practice their English (although what they made of my Lancastrian accent I didn't ask).

For sure, I wasn't sure what to make of an establishment with a name of Vinh Hung 2 Hotel when I booked, but after arrival, I remembered the old saying...'What's in a name?' For a nominated 3 star, it qualified. Rooms were a tadge above 'adequate' with a very comfortable bed. Hot water was hot and everything worked.

A pleasant surprise was the smallish swimming pool a few feet away from the reception desk on the ground floor – a most welcome luxury after a few hours of gongoozling the nearby sights. I certainly took advantage of it and spent a very pleasant hour after my first dip, lounging on a modern deckchair whilst sipping an ice cold cocktail and sharing anecdotes with fellow guests.

For the price paid, this hotel was a real find.

When visiting Hoi-an I recommend that you give it a try.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel recently as part of a G Adventures small group tour of Vietnam. The hotel staff were always helpful, our room was very comfortable and spacious with a little balcony overlooking the street, the hotel's design was excellent with rooms arranged around a central pool area and the small restaurant was also good with a varied breakfast menu. On top of this, it was only a five minute walk into the centre of Hoi An Old Town. All in all it was hard to find fault with this hotel and we would be very happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: A room on an upper floor with a balcony overlooking the street, rather than an internal balcony over...

Lovely hotel on the edge of the old town, perfectly situated for exploring on foot. We stayed for 3 nights during the progress of a typhoon though the town, and the staff could not have been more helpful, ensuring their guests were not inconvenienced in any way. The hotel sustained minor damage, but was up and running on a generator seamlessly, with all damage secured without fuss. Rooms were very clean and kept so, with a lovely colonial feel to them. Breakfasts were good and plentiful. Would love to go back.

This hotel is in a great location kind of at the intersection of a main thoroughfare. Rooms very nice, clean. Have refrigerator, coffeepot. No safe. The room I stayed in (307) had a balcony that faced the street, almost front center. Great to sit on the balcony and watch the scene below. The pool is located in the center of the hotel. Beautiful set up. Free internet is available. Breakfast buffet is great with a variety of foods (breads, cheeses, fruits, cereals, eggs, meat, etc). Hotel offers spa services - did have massage and would highly recommend it. The massage was in another location, so the hotel takes you there and picks you up via motorbike. The price was approximately $23 USD for one hour which is pretty good price. There is a mini market around the corner. Hotel offers bike rentals for $1 day. Staff were very attentive. You can walk to any location in town from the hotel. Because of its location easy to find. I would definitely stay here again.
