Kids love pools, and ours spent a large amount of time in the sizeable outdoor pool at Van Loi (as did the mum's & dad's!). We certainly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Breakfasts are very good and served in a rooftop dining room which has great views and cool cross breezes. The hotel is a short stroll from the Old Town area, and there are plenty of places offering laundry/beer/massage etc nearby. Rooms are large and the beds are comfy. On the downside, the place is old and showing it a bit, and wifi runs a little hot and cold depending on your room/proximity to a router. Even so, a very good option at the 3 star level.

The facilities at the hotel are great, there’s a (cheap) cocktail bar right next to the pool, breakfast is served on the roof (amazing view) and there’s a massage place right out front – although this is a little more expensive then the massage places in the old town (but still cheap compared to home!).

Our room was clean, beds were comfortable and the staff were very friendly.
Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights on Wendy Wu trip. Rooms were spacious, though a little dated and bit dark due to the large amounts of heavy wood furniture and paneling. Bathroom, and especially shower, were very tired and dated. Our room did have a balcony with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. The breakfast was of good quality and as the restaurant was situated on the top floor the views were excellent from here to. The pool was rather cold as it does not get many hours of sunlight. The hotel is well situated for sites of Hoi An, being only a five minute walk from the market over the bridge . You can sit and buy a beer from across the road (though prices did go up on the second night) and the laundry is also cheap and very convenient.

Stayed for two nights in April 2013 as part of a group tour. Read the various reports on Trip Advisor beforehand to prepare ourselves for the journey so we knew what to look out for such as the weird shower roses that spray out from the long wall of the bath rather than the end where a normal person would expect them to be! But what surprised us the most was just how cheap the management of this hotel is. Basil Fawlty eat your heart out!

First hinge noticed when we arrived was that the light just inside the door of the room didn't work and as such it was difficult to read the instructions for the safe which was inside the wardrobe. Needed to break out the torch to read them but couldn't get it to work so time to call reception to get the light fixed and explain how to operate the safe. I must say maintenance was very prompt but to our dismay the response was "Sorry, light broke, can't fix!" Fortunately the safe was sorted for us but the written instructions ( in English translated from Vietnamese) bore no resemblance to what you actually needed to do! Next was the dimmer switch on one of the bedside lamps, or the lack thereof. No way of turning this light on either! Continuing this theme, there was exposed wiring and broken light fittings through out the roof top breakfast area and the cover plate over the lift operating panel was missing exposing who knows what safety issues.

Next - the ubiquitous re-charging of the various batteries. Only 2 power points in the room (double round pin, not switchable but permanently live like many European and Asian countries) but the plugs wouldn't stay in tightly (wouldn't stay in at all in the bathroom), exposing the live pins.
Complimentary shampoos - the used tiny plastic bottles were clearly retrieved from the waste bin in the bathroom and refilled - the labels were buffed and worn and the dented bottles where every last drop had been squeezed out by the previous house guest, still dented! No bath mat - had to ask for one from reception, unwashed glasses in the bathroom, toilet paper not replaced by housekeeping - had to ask for more when we returned from the day's outing.

Drinks in the bar - clearly something dodgy going on here with drinks being poured from under the bar - no sign of the actual bottle of Johnny Walker scotch.

But on the bright side, for us wifi worked well, the air conditioning was effective, breakfast varied and enjoyable and the mattresses actually resembled a level of softness not previously experienced in Indochina allowing for a good night's sleep - well done.

This hotel, although we'll located as noted in other reviews, is really tired and desperately in need of a major make over, management included!

For $ 30.00 per night no one should be complaining. Dated rooms which are clean , air con works well , great pool , helpful staff and good location. WiFi not great but 3 computers in foyer do the job well. We would stay here again.

We were here with Wendy Wu tour. Charming older hotel with delightful welcoming staff. Rooms a little tired but lovely old furniture. Beds good. Bathroom OK. I would recommend this to anyone looking in this price range. I have rated it based on that price. Don't forget beer and laundry at Rosie's across the street. We were in room 214 and wifi not detectable there, but good wifi in common areas.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst on a Vietnam tour. When we arrived we were welcomed with a cool flannel and welcome drink. Checking in was easy as sorted by our efficient tour guide. The hotel is based around an average sized swimming pool which had a few sunbeds, and a bar - which wasn't staffed very often. The room was a decent size but everything had a air of tiredness about it. The sheets were clean but had marks/stains on them, and the towels were a bit frayed. Room facilities included a kettle( but no cups?),minibar, TV, air conditioning. The bathroom was functional and clean. Funny shower set up over the bath with the shower facing the side of the bath. The shower head was broken, and it was better to actually take off the head. This was remedied promptly the next day after we informed reception who arranged for a new shower head. Buffet breakfast was good up on the 5th floor with great views and a wonderful breeze. There is a spa/beauty room at the hotel. I had a pedicure for £4 whilst I was there and had a great chat with the very entertaining Lily. The hotel is in a fairly good location, it takes approx 10mins to walk over the bridge into Hoi An. Overall an average hotel, and if I come back to Hoi An would probably look at other hotels first.
