The Van Loi is a lovely hotel with good facilities. The location is ideal, being a short walk just over the bridge to the main hustle and bustle of the market, so plenty to see and do. Breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was very good and a wide selection was offered. The rooftop bar is a lovely retreat to chill out and soak up the views of the river and the busy street below. Although I didn’t go in, the pool looked very inviting. The laundry service is a little pricey but the friendly woman directly opposite the hotel will provide a fantastic service for a fraction of the price.
Our room was spacious, offered plenty of storage, very well equipped with all mod cons, huge comfortable beds, good air-con and a large en-suite. I was confined to the room for 3 days due to an accident and the staff were very helpful (although spoke v poor English). Room service was excellent, tasty and inexpensive.
Apart from the language barrier, the only other downside was the noise. Our room was at the front overlooking the busy street, so we heard everything from TVs, shouting, music to dogs barking. There were a few other noisy guests as well, although not the hotel’s fault. I would definitely stay here again, but would ask for a quieter room.More
