I felt compelled to leave some comments for Ha An. We stayed here based on other reviews and were certainly not let down. Perfect boutique hotel that is well situated to visiting Hoi An. Its on a quiet street a little ways down from the main streets - which we found made it feel very relaxed. Courtyard areas was great for kids to run around and to have a drink late in the evening when the were sleeping. Rooms were very clean and well kept and staff was very helpful - one example - on the morning we left for airport (had to go pretty early) they packed our breakfast to go, anything that we wanted, so we could eat in the van. Will stay here on our next visit.

This hotel is indeed a beautiful building and pretty close to the old town streets. However, the reception staff were well below average, not friendly and very unhelpful. Furthermore, they charged us more for the airport collection than they had quoted ($21 instead of $18) and this in itself was more than double what you can get if you arrange the taxi from an agent located just 20 meters from the hotel (who themselves were probably overcharging at $10)! Having said all that, the breakfast was fantastic and the breakfast staff and porters were excellent (although starting work at 7am outside our room - sanding down tables and chairs was not well appreciated!). Such a shame as some manners and general hospitality on the part of the management and reception staff would have made this something rather special.

We stayed in this hotel after reading about it on Trip advisor and it was a great place to stay as well as good value for money. Ha An is in a very good location- close to both the town and the beach. The rooms are nicely set out including a pc with internet attached to the tv. The rooms are serviced daily and the resturant is nice and well priced. Overall we had a great stay- however when we arranged our airport transfer the receptionist had confused the times and was very grumpy with us when we said we wanted to leave at 2pm not 12noon as discussed earlier that day- not a good way to end a great stay

This hotel lived up to all the great reviews here - my room, which was a superior non-garden view was probably the nicest I have ever stayed in. Attention to detail was second to none - every facility you could think of. Free internet, fruit, TV, quality bathroom product, small touches like an international adaptor. Used the free bikes for expedition to the beach - 15 minutes away even for the not so fit. Spa was excellent and service was good. 5 minutes walk to old town, handy for tailors. Used to pool at the hotel at the end of the street - asked permission and they were fine.

Ate at the hotel on one night and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

A couple of minor issues:
- there was refurbishment going on in the room above which started at c8am and went on all day - this did not bother me but might have troubled other guests.

- bought a train ticket from reception for which they charged £7US - the ticket price was actually nearer $2US so there was a significant % mark up, if only $5 in actual money. If this % mark up was applied to more expensive excursions then they might be cheaper to use another agent or book direct.

- lastly the computer in reception, which was the only one with a printer, had the date set at 2002 and nobody could reset it. This meant that I was unable to book flights and other hotels from this computer and get a copy of the documentation. Room computers were fine but had no print facility. I used the internet cafe in the next street.

Hoi An was the highlight of my trip to Vietnam.

Amazing attention to detail! Just some examples:

The beachtowels are already prepacked in a jute sack, and they are extra-large. An international combi-plug was in one of the wall sockets (unless someone else forgot it there). A (working) PC, plugged into the TV panel. Shower cream, shampoo in small earthen jugs instead of plastic bottles. Flower petals on the bed, in the bathrooms. Fruit basket. Breakfast with many small local dishes (plus a full egg station). Etc etc.

Really recommended!

My husband and I spent three nights at the Ha An as part of our honeymoon trip and absolutely loved it. We arrived at the airport after dark and the driver was waiting to pick us up in the comfortable SUV complete with pillows and bottled water. As soon as we pulled up to the Ha An, we could tell it was a magical little place, with a gorgeous courtyard and candles and twinkle lights everywhere. We were immediately given a complimentary glass of delicious watermelon juice and by the time we were finished, our room was ready and our luggage was waiting in it.

The room itself was very cozy, but clean and comfortable with pretty fresh flowers scattered throughout the bedroom and bathroom. The rooms all have access to a balcony which overlooks the courtyard, but the balcony is shared with other guests. Each room, however, has their own table and chairs out on the balcony – great for an afternoon cocktail and card game!

The absolute highlight of this hotel, however, was the complimentary breakfast. WOW! They had every piece of fresh, exotic fruit available from Dragon fruit to Passion fruit and everything in between. There was a huge selection of delectable pastries – sweet and savoury, a great selection of freshly squeezed fruit juice, and of course that wonderful Vietnamese coffee. And, if you’re not full yet – there is a “cooked to order” station making delectable omelettes, bacon, sausage, etc and a variety of Vietnamese dishes including the infamous Pho.

The spa at the hotel was fantastic. For $15, I had a 1 hour mixed-Asian technique massage. The best I received in my 5 weeks of travel throughout Vietnam and Thailand. I had one every morning that we were in Hoi An! My husband, on the other hand, opted to get a professional shave instead of buying a razor and regretted this choice. The ladies are great at massages – not at shaving. The lady appeared very nervous and my husband walked away with a couple of knicks on his face!

Location was quiet, located at the far end of the town, but it was still just a 10 minute walk, or less, to some incredible restaurants and was just a stone’s throw from some great tailors.

We stayed four nights at the Ha An Hotel and enjoyed every moment in this great hotel. The service was great and the staff super friendly and attentive at all times. The whole hotel has a very lovely and quiet atmosphere in busy Hoi An and therefore a cosy place to relax. There is a big green courtyard that is turned into romantically lit dining area at night.

The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and came with lots of flowers and nice decoration. It was equipped with DVDs, a computer and a huge flatscreen TV and fresh fruit every day. The complimentary breakfast buffet was the best we have seen in Asia.
We were sad to leave.
