“Just a dream hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We were travelling with a friend who had stayed here before who raved about it and she didn't exaggerate. The hotel was just as she described it, a boutique hotel in a French Colonial setting surrounded by lush gardens complete with billiard table and hammocks and meticulously tended by staff both inside and out. The decor of the rooms was exceptional with huge beds and cool white covers scattered with red rose petals on our arrival. The bathrooms were quite unique with the shower set in a pebble garden with hanging plants. Every time we had a shower they replaced the towels which were huge and thick and embossed with the hotel name. The location was excellent just on the edge of the town centre which made it perfect to get about. If you just want to lay beside a pool all day this is not the hotel or location for you. The hotel supplied their guests with free bicycles, free WiFi, free use of computers, free drinking water, free tea and coffee supplies plus a sumptuous breakfast buffet every morning as well as bending over backwards to help organise any outings or make any reservations required. We were there 6 nights and really didn't want to leave. We will definitely return as both Hoi An and the hotel are just too good to miss.

Room Tip: We had a superior garden view room and would request that again.

Everything about the hotel is above average. Rooms great, service great, amazing hotel grounds and the restaurant is very very good. Also, there are so many freebies (wifi, bfast, bikes) which make the value even more unbeatable. But, the location is near old town Hoi An which is not a place i would want to spend more than a couple of hours. Old town is very touristy and has very little besides little shops selling knock-offs to tourists. While in Hoi An you will more likely want to spend your time at the beach or the vegetable village. Both are accessible via a short bike ride from Ha An but if you plan to spend your time at the beach, probably better to stay closer.

A really laid back yet attentive hotel. Lovely room, cleaned twice daily, excellent Restuarant, lovely gardens, loan bikes on hand but they were not well maintained. Good shuttle service. Not the cheapest but still good value.

After all the good reviews on Tripadvisor we selected this hotel .The first impression was lovely, the garden, the surrounding ..but suddenly it changed when we arrived to room. There was high humidity in the room( Wet Spots on the wall).Very small room for 3( we touch each other),Very dirty and the bathroom smell bad.Very old that need an urgent renovation. We spoke with the staff to clean and they said that it was clean!Unbelievable!
The breakfast the first day was very good, but the next day the half of things missing!
The Staff were very unfriendly!!
Overpriced hotel.
The best the location.

were rather disappointed with this hotel.

Stayed in a garden room(their cheapest) it was Ok. Good air con and nice outdoor seating area also the shower was great - the room was clean. However, as another reviewers noted the rooms are very small and for two people there is a lack of space for luggage storage unless you want to unpack everything (not worth it for a short stay) also the rooms were damp and did smell a bit. However, the rates are vey reasonable and it is not marketed as 5*. They location is great - 5 min walk to town. Free bikes to rent. Be careful about the shoe maker they recommend, they massively ripped us off. Not a good recommendation. However, we did tell them and they seemed genuinely concerned that the recommendation had not been a good one. Staff were friendly but not only welcoming. It was very hot when we were there and we regretted not booking a place with a pool. Overall, good value but not a great hotel.

Set in a quiet location and in a beautiful colonial-type, garden setting with different facilities, The Ha An offered us a superior first floor room (over-looking the lawn and flowered quad) which was of excellent quality and immaculately presented, furnished and facilitated. The dining areas - both inside and out - were very good and well supported by attentive staff, whilst the buffet breakfast was outstanding to say the least. We found the management and staff to be helpful when called upon, and the airport taxi service was terrific though maybe more staff could have had a few more basic words of English to assist in communication with clients.

Room Tip: Favour the first floor rooms.

We had a superior room booked for 3 nights. Arriving late in the evening, we were taken to a garden side room on the ground floor which had an overwhelming, pungent smell of mould. When we complained, we were shown two more rooms on the ground floor, one of which smelled the same, the other one a little bit better. The staff were being a bit evasive, and we accepted the room, but the smell was still unacceptable. The next morning we complained some more and were finally moved to a room on the first floor, which didn't have a smell and was lovely.

We enjoyed the rest of our stay, but were still angry. The management are clearly aware that there is a damp problem on the ground floor (there are ineffective dehumidifiers in the rooms), and it's obviously not appropriate to put guests in those rooms, but they tried it on with us anyway. Very poor practice.

Room Tip: Not on the ground floor!
