“Just FABULOUS!”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

Would have stayed a few weeks here if we had time. Staff wonderful, helpful and amusing. All eager to help. Lovely breakfasts. Room spotless and tastefully decorated .. Slept so well here, nicely tucked away down a quiet lane from the main road. Minutes to the rice fields . Wonderful cooking class making rice paper and pancakes. Don't miss a chance to enjoy this gem of a place!

I spent another unique, enriching and unprecedented weekend at Hoi An Lemongrass Home stay. As before the concept did not change. Mrs. Hong & Diem, ref for the owners just make it as enjoyable as possible for you to feel simply as good as if you were home. They take care of you just as best that you can expect. Definitely will go back again. Simple and lovely right at the countryside landscape of Hoi An cultural richness. Must return again and again

I've been travelling through Asia for many months and can safely say that this was the best place I've stayed at, and thoroughly deserves all the rave reviews.

From the moment I arrived to the second I checked out, the staff were incredibly polite, helpful and charming. The room was enormous, spotlessly clean and, like the whole place, beautifully decorated. I've stayed in so many places where you can tell it's merely a money-making operation. Definitely not the case here - there's so much attention to detail that you can tell it was put together by people who really enjoy it, from the cute and detailed A-Z guidebook in the bedroom to the lovely decor.

Breakfast was great, the free bikes were perfect for the job (it's about 3km from the old town on one side and 2km from the beach on the other), wifi was fast and reliable, everything spotless - I honestly can't say enough good things about the place.

The only comment I would add is, while it certainly feels enormously more cosy and friendly than a hotel, the description "Homestay" may be a tiny bit misleading if you've had traditional homestay experiences where you literally stay in a family's spare room, share meals with them in their kitchen, see them come and go to a life outside of the hospitality business etc. Around South East Asia I find the term is quite loosely used to describe family-run boutique hotels, which I think would be a more accurate description of a place with 5 rooms where the staff wear uniforms (presumably the family, although I wasn't introduced to them by name). As a solo traveller I was hoping for a potential insight into the family's life, and for me on my own Lemongrass was a touch too romantic :) Amazing if you're a couple, though, and there is a cooking class etc, so definitely not a criticism, just an observation to make sure potential guests have the right expectations!

Have previously stayed 2 times in their senior partner hotel Hoi An Chic, but decided to try the Homestay property across the paddy field for a change of scenery & style! Absolutely no problems as all facilities can be shared (free bicycles/pool/restaurant/trip-bookings/shuttle into town, airport transfer, etc.). Soly and Hom, the charming reception girls look after your every need, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable 5 days with them, and all other staff were very pleasant too.
The rooms and very well equipped and homely, and I agree with all the other positive reviews from around the World about this establishment.

Lemongrass homestay has almost the same ambiance and design with its sibling which is Hoi An Chic Hotel which is jst across the rice field and much more expensive. It stays on Nguyen Trai street which is more like a lane going through a bunch of local farm houses and rice fields. 3km from the Old town and jst 2km from Cua Dai beach, a perfect place for relaxation.

The front yard is furnitured with old-style outdoor seating and several farming equipment which you will learn how to use in the free cooking class offered during the stay. We were greeted by a friendly staff and our luggage were quickly brought up to the 3rd floor.

The room on the 3rd floor is a bit small, centered by a king-size bed. The bathroom was clean and modernly designed. The lighting was warm and cozy, jst perfect.

Even though there's no pool and restaurant in Lemongrass homestay, you can always walk to Hoi An Chic hotel to use the restaurant and enjoy the rooftop pool overseeing the whole wonderful countryside scenery. Make sure to register for the free cooking class where you will learn how to seperate the rice, make the rice milk and rice paper, and use other ingredients to make rice pan cakes.

Recommended by friends from Ireland who stayed here a couple of weeks ago. They spoke so highly of Lemongrass Homestay rather I didn't even look anywhere else but booked in here initially for a 2 night stay but have extended & will probably stay 6 nights.

Situated on the edge of town it's quiet & tranquil. The rooms are quite large - certainly bigger than most mid range hotels & the welcome is fantastic.

The staff are totally charming - they quite literally just want to do everything to make your stay better......so helpful & definitely the friendliest staff in any accommodation establishment so far in Vietnam......

The Staff even offer ear plugs to guests & apologize in advance for the early morning calls of a neighboring rooster or cockerel!!!! Well, I slept so well I never heard him at all until I woke up myself after 7am......

The rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds with crisp white linen; hair dryers; tea making etc. Stocked mini bar for which there is a charge for carbonated drinks etc but not normal hotel type charges - much cheaper......

Spacious bathrooms with oversize shower; individual hot water heaters In each bathroom.

Simple but adequate breakfast served from 06.00 to 10.00

Aircon in all rooms

Free WiFi everywhere

Trips, tours etc arranged

Bicycles available to borrow.

Many nice Vietnamese restaurants close by. The walk to town & the sights of the Old City takes about 45 mins along a dead straight & safe road which also houses a number of interesting shops.....

Laundry just across the main road which charges $1/kilo. Ironing a few cents extra; hairdressers, nail bars, spas etc all close by.

The beach is a very short taxi ride away.

I can really recommend this perfect oasis of tranquility for your stay in Hoi An. I feel I've struck gold with this lovely place.
