Owner description: A local favorite, construction on this covered bridge began in the Year of the Monkey (1593) and was finished in the Year of the Dog (1595), hence the monkey and dog sculptures at either end.

You hear so much about this it is a little disappointing. However it was attractive in the evening with lights floating in the water. The history is interesting.

We went to the bridge, we walked over the bridge, we saw the bridge from outside, we walked back over the bridge. It was free to enter. It amused us for about 10 minutes, and then we went on our merry way.

It looks nice at night when drinking a beer from across the river. Especially if it is lit up with lanterns.

Don't pay $6 per person to walk over the bridge. Over the bridge just more shops, which take you out onto Main Street.

Hoi An is truly a world heritage site, despite the funds that were intended for reconstruction and restoration being siphoned away, the walk around is a great experience. At the top of the list must be the Japanese Covered Bridge over a little creek. Make sure that you go across the bridge and wander round the narrow streets on the other side!
