Owner description: A local favorite, construction on this covered bridge began in the Year of the Monkey (1593) and was finished in the Year of the Dog (1595), hence the monkey and dog sculptures at either end.

Now I passed through the bridge at night and the vibe at night is completely different from the light of day. Having said that, the minute you enter the threshold of the bridge, there's a literal sense of stepping back in time (of course, without the other tourists around) from the scent of the incense, to the creak of the wooden floorboards, to the alter they have and the stone statues of the guardians of the bridge and to the view of the old town from inside the bridge. The only few things that reminded me of the current time and place was the guard asking a sneaky tourist for his ticket (he didn't have one) and the donation box for the children of agent orange, which by the way wouldn't take much for anyone to put cash in or to find out how to help these children in person like I did during the rest of the trip in Hoi An

The bridge is definitely worth a look, try to avoid a time when the tour groups are there. It is better in the evening when all lit up.

portrayed as unique but rather drab and nothing special, i would not go out of my way to see this, the street on the west side is worth walking through not as full on as the market but very good for souveneers and brick a brack items.

The bridge and area surrounding it are very atmospheric and are as close to a hawker free zone as you'll get in Hoi An.

Very intriguing and historic which is fitting for the whole area. Shame that it was raining as it limited photo's however it was warm and at least no flooding!
