This was a very comfortable stay in a beautiful setting, a picturesque river on one side and the beach on the other. The resort was four star comfort, similar to others in Southeast Asia, a great value for the price and a great base to explore the town, which is really why you come here- the seaside just makes it better.

Hoi An is a wonderful town and we would come back to visit again but can not say the same about Hoi An Beach Resort. We find the management to be sub-standard and it reflects the staff. We checked in late with our three young children expecting to find two connecting rooms as we would in other resorts but instead we found two rooms separated by a courtyard. Trying to have the front desk resolve this problem and we were told that the two rooms are indeed next to each other. It was not acceptable to us to have a courtyard between our two rooms but the receptionist said that it was the travel agent's fault for not being clear on the reservation - the agent should ask for two connecting rooms not just two rooms next to each other - besides the hotel is completely booked. I am not sure where the unclarity is but at this point every one is tired and my husband is loosing his patience.

My husband asked to speak to a manager and it was around 9:30 PM. No management was on-site so front desk had to contact one at home. The manager kept apologizing but offered no good solution. At one point, he suggested to have the children sleep in one room and we sleep in the other room because the resort is very safe. And the next day they would move us to two connecting rooms. Neither solutions suited us because we were there for only two nights - the first night is already ruined - and we do not want to be bothered with packing and unpacking since our stay is so short. So we decided to all sleep in one room.

This is not the end of our problems with bad service. Upon checking out, I was told to return a pair of hotel flip-flops because housekeeping could not find the third pair and they would have to charge us for the missing pair. I was adamant that we did not take them but was asked anyway to check with our children if they may have packed them away by mistake. I went to look in our shoes bag and found nothing. Just when I returned to the lobby, the receptionist said that housekeeping found them underneath the bed. I was furious and could not believe how unprofessional and untrained these staff are. I blame the management for not thoroughly training their staff and for not having one single manager on-site. By the way, the manager that spoke to my husband on the phone turned out to be just a reception supervisor and at this point I could only speculate that at his level he has no authority to make any decisions.

To be fair, we find the ground of Hoi An Beach Resort is fine but that alone does not make a resort. What makes a resort besides the facility is the staff. WIthout well trained staff, a 4-star resort could really turn into a 1 or 2-star resort experience and the star rating should be revisited often to keep the resort management on its toes.

Due to unfortunate weather we didn't get to use all of the exclusive facilities of the hotel. For that, we could have stayed downtown instead. That said, very nicely situated just by the beach and with a beautiful pool area. Room was very nice and big, and they have om offer almost all you can think of. A bit disappointed in the prices for massage and other wellness treatments. They were as expensive as in my own country and that is just not the pricelevel of Vietnam. Hotel shuttlebus runs frequently, and we only used that for transport to town. Hoi An is a very lovely little place with amazingly many tailors that are good at what they do. Breakfast buffet was good, didn't try the restaurant for dinner.

We arrived the hotel a few days before Christmas. It was very quited and not a lot of tourists - despite they claimed to be fully booked!

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The beach is just on the other side of the road very close to the hotel. Towers offered for free at the beach.

We left just before Christmas for Quy Nhon - which cannot be recommended as a place to go...

All in all a nice hotel with nice staff and facilities.

Resort was great...
we were supposed to stay at the Life resort but it was closed due to flooding- note Oct/Nov has bad floods....
weather wasnt the best, a bit cold but only 1/2 day of rain so not too bad.
We had a riverview villa and it was really nice. Looked right out onto the river. excellent size room and bathroom.
Good location if the weather was better as they have their own private beach on the other side of the resort..
They have a free shuttle service to/from the Hoi An Hotel in town which was very convenient but even a taxi was only 40,000 dong.
Breakfast wasnt the best we had in Vietnam... bacon was always cold but other than that the resort is great.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights as the final leg of our trip through Vietnam. After staying in some amazing hotels from Hanoi to Sapa to Hué, it was a bit of a let down to stay at this hotel. Yes, the rooms are large and well kept, but the breakfast buffet was rather low quality and on the first evening the cable / satellite dish / decoder gave the ghost and we had nothing to see on TV outside of the Vietnamese, Chinese and French channels (staff didn't seem to care about that problem, we noticed)! We were unfortunate to have bad weather, so without the TV it got rather boring. The beach was alright and the pools too, but the water temperature was cold, so couldn't really enjoy either. The road to the hotel was washed out during an earlier typhoon so it was a bit of a trek through sand dunes to reach the entrance!!! The personnel were nice, but typical of Vietnam: lacking in proper knowledge of any foreign languages and at times a bit indifferent (thanks to the communist domination of over 30 years).
All-in-al it is a nice hotel, we have to admit, but not one in which we would recommend staying too long. If you want a bit more luxury and relaxation, try the Victoria Resort Hoi An, which is just up the road.

Got back from Hoi An last Thursday. I had a de luxe room at the Hoi An Trails Resort and apart from a slight problem with the shower overflowing - I could not find fault with it at all.

The room was kept spotlessly clean - the bed linen and towels were of superior quality. I have to admit though that the shower tray was inclined to overflow but I have also had this problem in many hotels in the far east..

The food was good - but not too much choice.

My only fault was the swimming pool could have done with being bigger and there were not enough loungers - although before we left the management had supplied another 5.

The staff in all areas of the hotel were charming , polite and very helpful - especially the restaurant and bar staff.

There were two computers in the bar - connected to broadband and free to use and also a library of left over books.

They could have done with a bit of entertainment on an evening but we were told that the hotels do not go into that sort of thing - but at least they could have put a bit more modern music over the intercom - it was rather dated.

All in all I enjoyed my 2 weeks stay there.
