“Great Location and Great breakfasts”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

We stayed here recently to attend a wedding in Hoi An.
We also stayed here last year, and enjoyed the convenience, the pool and the breakfast so much we recommended it to our friends attending the wedding this year.
The location is fantastic.
Just a few minutes out the door and you're in the ancient town of Hoi An. Back to the hotel for a swim in the lovely pool, (renorvations were starting the week after we left, but would probably be finished by now) a drink by the pool and then just a short stroll to restaurants for dinner.
The breakfast buffet in the breakfast "house" - a separate building set in beautiful garden oasis is fantastic - all the fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cooked everything, soups, pastries, eggs made to order, pancakes made to order - yum. They also do a very good Vietnamese coffee with ice - very refreshing for breakfast. You can sit in the airconditoned room or out in the garden if you're up early enough to enjoy the cooler air.
Staff are attentive and the rooms are traditionally furnished and spacious. (a few people in the wedding party changed rooms - for various reasons - but never a problem - only seemed pleased to accommodate them). The bathrooms are getting a little tired, but perfectly adequate.
You can get the shuttle bus down to the beach at no charge to the sister hotel on the beach, but times never suited us - they seem a bit spasmodic. Taxis are so cheap that you might as well get a taxi instead.
I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: There is a school behind the hotel, so always ask for a room facing the pool or the garden, as scho...

On arrival staff offered cool refreshments & were very welcoming & friendly. There was a little bit of confusion about our room, we were aware they were doing pool renovations prior to our arrival & had specifically requested a room away from the construction area but unfortunately this information had not filtered through to the hotel staff. We were fortunate to have our tour guide with us & he was able to organise a different room for us & due to the confusion they upgraded us from a deluxe room to an executive room which was beautiful. Also due to the construction we received a complimentary meal in the restaurant & drinks at the a garden bar. I was a bit ill the day we arrived & went to bed for a nap, when I woke up I wanted tea & toast, my husband had great fun conveying this request to the restaurant staff, once they worked out what he wanted they made a great fuss about my well being for the rest of our stay which was lovely. The hotel has a wonderful tropical resort style feel, is very clean, great A/C, our room was huge, comfy bed & pillows, huge bathroom, tea & coffee facilities in room. Breakfast good, wait staff very attentive. Only 5 minutes walk to old town, river & restaurants, if you hire a bicycle 5 minutes ride & you are in the countryside. The pool renovations didn't bother us, we knew we could get the hotel shuttle bus to another hotel if we wanted to use the pool, but we were that occupied looking around the old town we really didn't miss it.

Room Tip: Upgrade your room, well worth it!

We absolutely loved this hotel from the moment we stepped inside. The atmosphere is very tropical and resort-like. We arrived earlier but the staff found us a room so we did not have to wait around. The room was lovely with both air-con and a ceiling fan. We utilised the pool and the pool bar most days. The breakfast spread was amazing with a huge array of Western food. The pool restaurant had great food and cocktails also. I used the spa to get my nails done. Very basic but the girl was lovely. The hotel is in a great location and close to town. We would highly recommend anyone to stay here, it was absolutely lovely and relaxing. In fact we loved it so much that we changed our trip to stay an extra night.

Upon arrival the staff were very attentive and made sure that we were checked in with little hassle; although we were early and couldn't complete the final check in. They also advised at this time that the pool was closed due to renovations and that they would organise transport to another hotel to utilise the pool.
The room upon check in was lovely; however the renovations were not only at the pool area. They are also renovating some of the rooms. We complained and were moved to a quieter part of the hotel. Whilst grateful for the move it would've been nice to know prior.
Overall, it is a beautiful old historic hotel with beautiful room furnishings, with friendly and accommodating staff, with the buffet breakfast being ordinary.
Before checking in ensure the renovations have been completed. I'm not sure I'd stay again if in Hoi An.

This hotel was in a great location .Walking distance to markets ,ancient hoi an ,river and many restaurants. They had an outside beer garden,2 restaurants and a coffee shop. THe only draw back was the pool was being refurbished and could not be used. We and other guests had not been advised of this when booking.(a bit peeved off by this as when you have been out for the day all you want is a swim to refresh).THe hotel offered a shuttle bus to another hotel for us to be able to use their pool which we did on one occasion. It was very nice but not the same as walking out of your room to ave a swim.Good idea to check this before booking as several hotels in Vietnam refurbish from August to October.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool side room ground floor

As its name imply ("Historic Hotel") this seems to be an old hotel recently restored, and this is noticeable in some aspects, among which the surprising lack of a lift to get to the upper floors (fortunately the staff takes care of your luggage...), and some room problems I'll explain later.

It has a very convenient location, on the edge of the old town and close to all interesting Hoi An attractions. Garden and pool (with towel and bar service) are very nice, same as the restaurant (very good breakfast and dinner). Staff is efficient and helpful.

On the minus side, the room I had for the first night was very noisy, with some kind of motor noise (air con compressor?), traffic from the back street, and children from the nearby school early in the morning, so I was unable to rest. I finally discovered that the window was broken so that it could not be properly closed.

In the morning I complained to the reception staff and they promptly agreed to switch me to another room... which unfortunately was not with its share of problems. A minor one was that the shower hot and cold faucets were reversed, so I was in for an unpleasant surprise every time I forgot. The main one was a very thin wooden connecting door to the next room, so that I was able to hear very clearly everything that happened there, from conversations to TV sound! Too many unpleasant problems for an otherwise very nice hotel. Just bad luck? Maybe, but you should not depend on luck to get a proper room...

I can't comment about its price/value because we stayed as part of a package tour, so I don't know the real room price.

Pleasant hotel for price, dreary view in Deluxe room, we looked out over a school, noisy from 0700. Balcony but no outdoor furniture, staff helpful and most spoke English relatively well. We chose it for the location and nice pool.

Problem was they commenced pool renovations on the day of our arrival - pool emptied and no access. They really should advertise if key facilities will be unavailable at time of your booking. We cut our stay short as a result.

Probably wouldn't return.
