Owner description: Located on the banks of the poetic Thu Bon River, in central Quang Nam province, 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, Hoi An ancient town is an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

My favourite place in all of Vietnam. If you are travelling around or near south east Asia, go to Vietnam! It’s an amazing country and Hoi An is just the best. It’s beautiful, traditional and unlike anywhere else.

The roads are mellow, relaxing and full of culture. Clothes are so cheap, either off the markets or in the tailors. We had 3 men’s shirts made and worked out around £22 each. I got a couple of cheap play suits from the market for around £3 and on our trip so far I wear them daily- literally! So comfy and light I wish I got more! People are so nice! You literally just want to tip everyone and eat at every restaurant.

Restaurants are LOVELY! Lots of excursions to do around there. Bikes and on foot only in the main town which is soo lovely! The river is beautiful especially at night! You can boat ride on it or just sit along in one of the restaurants or bars.
If you want to be chilled in the evenings you can and if you want to be lively you can.

You will get amazing photos and make amazing memories! Coffee and cakes are BRILLIANT there! Try the Hoi An specialities too, crispy fried wanton is delicious!! Cao lau is gorgeous too and so cheap!! They serve dalat wine everywhere and the red isn’t too bad.
We booked an extra 3 or 4 nights and I almost cried leaving!

To be honest you can’t really sell it you just have to go!!!

The old town has many great places to shop and eat
We bought mainly art - lovely oil paintings for around $35 US
The tour buses decsend on the place late afternoon making the morning the best time to visit and shop

Small roads, pedestrianised to enhance the visitor experience. Lovely shops and varied restaurants. Traditional multi coloured lanterns giving a great ambience at night. Sellers who respect your no and don't push you to buy or try to fob you off with something else. It's a lovely place!
Sadly it's also very busy so if you want a peaceful time, avoid holidays and weekends. And unpleasantly, the vast majority of the staff employed by the tourist office and in the ancient sights are impolite and unpleasant. Sadly also unavoidable.

Very pretty town, super romantic and atmosphere after dark. Many restaurants, boutique shops and tailors around. Wondered the streets for 2 days and then suddenly someone asked me to pay atrocious price to walk the street. What?!
