Owner description: Located on the banks of the poetic Thu Bon River, in central Quang Nam province, 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, Hoi An ancient town is an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

Definitely worth a visit! Great shopping and very beautiful particularly at night with the lanterns and lights. Some great bargains to be had and so much choice for restaurants.

“So quaint, do your souvenier shopping here!”

Great walking district, lots of little shops, bars and restaurants. The place to get your clothes made - it's amazing what they can do, even from just a picture!

“A Commercial Ancient Town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

There are a lot of souvenir shops and restaurants to serve tourists. You could see some old temple and community hall etc. The Japanese bridge is the icon of the town and tourists seemed not taking enough photos of it. At night some young girls wearing ao dai sell floating lanterns to tourists for wish making.

“Has a Great Vibe”

We were scheduled to be in Hoi An for 3 days but due to Typhoon Haiyan we cut our visit to 1. What a disappointment. At least we had the opportunity to stroll thru the Old Quarter, have lunch and see the tourist sites. It was charming and alive with activity and we were so sorry to leave so quickly

“Just take it easy and enjoy”

Wherever you travel in Old Hoi An you won’t feel uncomfortable the area is filled with restaurants, bars and Tailors. Not in a spoilt commercialised way but in a typical Vietnamese way where the people are friendly and welcoming. Stroll the markets and discover fruit and vegetables you can only wonder at what they are. Pop into a bar for a coffee or Beer you will be impressed with the prices and quality of the food served. At no time did I ever feel threatened or worried and I hope it doesn’t become spoilt as it will no doubt become more popular over the coming years.
