“Wish we had booked more than 2 nights - great for families”
Reviewed June 27, 2011

We had booked only 2 nights here as it was significantly more expensive than our Hotel in Hoi An. I wish I had stayed here longer as it was the perfect location for a family with children. It was very hot in Hoi An during our stay and after spending 5 nights there we very much appreciated our accomodation by the beach as we found it was cooler there.

I had heard that the pool here was too hot, but found this to not be a problem at all. In fact they cooled the pool with giant ice blocks in the morning.

The kids club while it held little attraction for the children (aged 6 and 10) during the day is open until 9pm and you can leave your children here while you go out and have a quiet dinner. The kids club organised their dinner and they spent the evening watching TV and playing the games they had brought along. They were there with another boy they met at the resort and had a great time,

We found the shuttle bus to Hoi An very convenient each evening. The breakfast buffet at the resort was outstanding and served in an air conditioned dinning room.

If you are coming to Hoi An with children we thoroughly recommend this resort.

This place was good but not really outstanding. The highlights were the pool and the lovely beach with views of the mountains in the background. The rooms were good. Overall though, the front of the hotel and some of the facilities like the spa, gym and foyer, are looking a bit tired and in need of a make over. The exception to this is the lovely pool and the pool bar.

We stayed in a deluxe room and were upgraded to a deluxe room with an ocean view. The room was lovely, the bathroom was very tired though. If you want luxury stay in the beachside suites as these did look new and beautiful. Alternatively, try another hotel like the Nam Hai (and pay the price). I walked over to the Swiss Bel Hotel and the Victoria was more up to date. I think the Victoria is in the process of remodelling one bit at a time so this hotel may improve itself over time.

Wow, what a view and at these prices, we hit a golden travel moment
We had a junior suite on the beach, with traditional timber floors and vaulted ceilings making way to a balcony with uninterrupted sea views. Like I said, wow.
Location wise, you're a lazy 10 min ride into town, either by free shuttle bus or moto taxi, around 2 usd per person. Hoi is about staying at the beach.
The restaurants and food in general was very good...the Pho Ba fresh baguette for breakfast, along with freshly cut mango
My favorite lunch snacks were the fresh springrolls, served on a bed of lettuce which when scooped up with the peanut oil and fried shallots is a texture and taste sensation. The wine list is also sound and well priced, darenberg from south Australia makes an appearance, as does the light, Sauvignon semmilion from Taltarni. Just as tasty at lunchtime.
One must manage expectations with staffing in general in Vietnam. There seems to be a lack of vision and confidence and frequently staff seem more comfortable chatting with each in the corner rather than serving guests. You should manage expectations...
In the spa, make sure you're clear about which treatment you have booked before you go in...the therapists didn't have much English which can lead to massage misinterpretation.
In Hoi An, go to the mango room or mango mango. The restaurant is run by an overseas trained Vietnamese chef, it's some of the best fusion cuisine ive had.....washed down with a white sangria intepretation.
Also give the hotel side car tours a go, it's a great way to see the paddies with a mountaneous vista in the background.
So the spoons call? A massive thumbs up, well done Victoria.
Love in travel

We visited for four nights on our honeymoon in Vietnam and Victoria provided an excellent starting point. The staff were attentive and friendly from our arrival and we did feel special. The room we had was of average size but had great charm and character. We had our own balcony looking out over the river and the room was turned over twice daily. Personal touches like little scrolls and treats on our bed every night were an added bonus. One tip though is to use your safe as wallets etc that our left around the room will end up at reception. This is not a critical point however as the task of signing for your own valuables built trust between guest and staff and reminded us to be careful with our holiday money. The food was fantastically presented at all times and tasted great. Of course eating in the Resort was a little more expensive than in town. The Victoria had a beautiful private beach area which was fully staffed and provided the ultimate paradise feeling. The gardens and pool and bars were all kept to a high standard and the helpful staff were never far away. Free shuttle services to town made life very easy and we used bicycles free of charge too. I could write alot more but the overall statement of fact is that the Victoria is a wonderful retreat full of sweet and kind people who always make you feel happy and content. Plenty to see and do. Hoi An itself is amazing also and Victoria got us into town efficiently almost every day and night. Thank you for the memories.

We had hoped for a special place to celebrate my husband's 50th and this was the place! From the spectacular Victoria Suite - king, with it's magnificent beachside location and decor, to the liitlest detail of a nightly bedtime fable placed on your pillow, we loved this place.
The location was perfect and the shuttle bus to town was very convenient for a quick bit of shopping. The breakfast menu catered for every taste and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The highlight for us was a very special 'Honeymoon Dinner' on the beach, that we had requested for the night of the birthday. We were delighted with the attentiveness of the wait staff and the brilliance of the 5 course meal, that ended with a chat with the French Chef who had prepared it.

Great location, only about a $4 aus Taxi ride from Hoi An, facilitys are great, very clean, nice rooms with a fantastic outlook onto a beautiful beach.
Staff are all fantastic and extremely friendly with Good english, the food is also quite good with the seafood Buffet which I think was on the Friday night, probably the highlight as far as food was concerned.

Room Tip: Beach front if available for sure.

Truly great. The views were magnificent, the beach and pool fantastic. While the service and spas are not quite up to an international five-star standard, you will not be disappointed by your time at the Victoria.

Room Tip: Get a beach-facing , second-story room.
