This unassuming place, a bit out of the old town but very close to the fabulous Hai Au hotel, manages to turn out the best food in all of Hoi An and very likely in all of Vietnam. I am somewhat of a foodie and although fresh, much of Vietnamese food seems bland to me, especially after the explosive flavors of Thailand. Not so in Vina Ngon. They will make it spicy or not, as you wish, but it is all very tasty and well seasoned. They make everything from scratch so get there early if you don't want to wait. We ate there two times, had fish in clay pot and fish hot pot as well as assorted sides. White rose was also delicious, a delicate dumpling. The entire cost for two was about $12 US with beer and all, and the portions are quite large.
If this place was near my home, I'd be there 4 to 5 times a week. I regret that I didn't have time to take their cooking class. MAKE THE EFFORT TO FIND THIS PLACE. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED IF WANT AUTHENTIC VIETNAMESE FOOD.
