“Perfection, eat on the balcony upstairs.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

We cannot fault this restautant, ate there twice and thoroughly enjoyed both times, try their starters of reworked spring rolls, or grapes in cheese or white rose just about anything really, just order it and enjoy it!
We sat on the balcony upstairs both times and just watched the quiet streetlife go by.
Perfect friendly service by girls who speak good English and also know the menu!
A bit on the expensive side for Vietnam but well worth it.

“Good, but not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

It was the building/interior and the ambience that initially drew us in, this really is a lovely place to spend an evening. If you're a couple grab the first table on the left as you walk in, then you can switch to the sofa by the window after you've eaten to kick back and enjoy the wine list or cocktails.

The staff were very friendly, attentive and keen to please. Where they fell down slightly was with the wine. I ordered a white from the very comprehensive wine list and 5 minutes later it had been opened and a taster poured. Great, except that the bottle hasn't been chilled so was at room temperature. Guys - if it's not cold, come and ask if the customer would mind waiting for it to be chilled properly or ask if they'd like to choose something else. Just don't dunk it in an ice bucket for 5 minutes then serve it, especially in a hot and humid country...

The food itself was adequate, but far from great. We went with Vietnamese and Hoi An specials for starter and main courses. Everything was OK - beautifully presented - but all really bland and lacking in flavour. From the descriptions in the menu I had really high hopes for some spectacular flavour combinations, but the reality was really disappointing and may well have just been bog standard "chicken with noodles" and "squid with rice" rather than the exiting, vibrant fusion dishes they were pitched as. Why do Asian restauranteurs seem to assume that all white people like bland food?

All in all we had a pleasant evening here, but that boiled down entirely to the ambience and the wine - once it was cold enough to drink (which was after we'd finished eating). If they could bring the standard of the food up to the promise of the menu then this could be the best restaurant in Hoi An, but at the moment it's an also-ran.

“Style over substance...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

This is a lovely looking restaurant with a great atmosphere, it is a shame that the food and drink don't quite match the ambience for quality...

Everything is presented beautifully and the dishes looked amazing when they arrived, it is shame that they actually tasted a little bland and pedestrian. The other frustration was with the wine which had not been chilled, they opened the bottle anyway and tried to serve us warm white wine rather than presenting us with alternative chilled options and on request, placed the bottle in an ice bucket but we had finished our meal by the time the wine was chilled anough to drink. Luckily they have a lovely sofa area where we were able to relax and enjoy the wine after our meal...
