Owner description: We share Hoi An’s best kept food secrets. The Ancient Town of Hoi An is just bursting with interesting and delicious Vietnamese dishes each with its own unique cultural profile; however for one reason or another much of this food remains anonymous and many visitors miss the opportunity to experience this tantalizing world of unique flavors. The aim of our tour is to provide an opportunity to unlock your adventurous culinary spirit and experience the epicurean delights of Hoi An.

“A must do if you are in Hoi An”

If you enjoy your food (and if you are in Vietnam there is a good chance you do!), put this tour high on your to-do list. Guide/raconteur Neville clearly knows his stuff and his passion for both Vietnam and its cuisine comes shining through. As other reviews note, it is a taste sensation with an almost overwhelming selection of foods and tastes. It goes beyond just culinary info with Neville giving you an insight into Vietnamese culture and introducing you to a few local characters. Children are well accomodated for with Neville giving them a quick briefing beforehand and awarding them Legend status (with a certificate) if they try everything. Great value and great fun!

“The Reviews are right!”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

Earlier on our trip, we had a so-so private tour in Hong Kong (although not a food tour) and so we harboured a little skepticism about this one. It turned out to be completely unfounded! Neville is unashamedly in love with Vietnam and has absolutely done his research - not only regarding food, but also history and culture. He dispenses his knowledge with enthusiasm and humour and is in fact, so keen to share information about all aspects of Hoi An, that his lovely Vietnamese assistant has to constantly tug him by his belt loop to keep him moving along. So, that is the entertainment part of the tour. Now for the food. The tour starts out with a most wonderful drink which most foreigners would probably never try if it wasn't for this tour. It is called Sinh To Trai Cay and is like a mixed fruit shake - unbelievably delicious!! and good for you. And it continues from there. A lot of the food is served right there on the street, other more substantial dishes in restaurants or specially set up tasting rooms. 41 dishes (tastes) later, all you want to do is get back to your hotel room and lay your big stomach down as you contemplate how you could mover to Vietnam for good.
Even before the tour, Neville sent us a list of great restaurants we could try and suggestions for some great food. He even made recommendations for tailors and leather workers in town. We took advantage of all of his recommendations and were not disappointed.
At the end of the tour he gave us a list of all the foods that we tasted on the tour and offers a number of goodies for sale - the proceeds of which go to VAVA (the Victims Association for the Victims of Agent Orange). It is not a pushy sale by any means (even though it is obvious that he and his wife, Colleen are passionate about the work that VAVA does) and it was great to be able to support this group in a small way and get some yummy gifts to take home.
Highly recommended!!!

“An incredible insight into Hoi An food, culture & history.”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Neville takes you on a highly memorable tour de force. He is a brilliant speaker, storyteller & entertainer. The recommendations of restaurants post-tour are very helpful. The food tastings are of an excellent standard & the local support is brilliant. Definitely not the cheapest experience in Hoi An but undoubtedly huge value. About $50 per person. 42 different tastings plus many a history lesson on the way. Bravo Neville & Colleen an incredible experience! Wear a hat & bring your emptiest of stomachs.

“Don't miss this!”
Reviewed October 4, 2013 via mobile

Neville takes you on a great journey of wonderful culinary experiences walking the streets and markets of Hoi An. Try to do it early in your stay in Hoi An, as he also shares tips and secrets of where to fine and shop and what to eat and buy. Book early, as it fills up fast and Neville limits the size of the groups. He's great with kids too!

“Eat and Love”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

A must do tour if you want to experience a taste of the best food in Hoi An. Neville and his lovely Vietnamese helpers guided us through a sample of over 40 food experiences, from the markets, street stalls, cafés and finally at his food home, The Family Restaurant where we also met his wife Colleen. Neville is a fantastic raconteur and shares his love of the food and people of Vietnam with a social conscience.
