“For a Taste of Vienamese Music and Dance”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

The Traditional Theater in Hoi An is unlike other theaters. For one, the theater is relatively small and the viewer is able to look at the performers from fairly close quarters. This enables the viewer to discern the various movements of the performers quite closely and see for himself the intricate hand movements, the details of the costumes, the details of the jewelry and the facial expressions. The performances are a reflection of the Vietnamese culture and tradition. Not only foreigners but even locals come to enjoy the music. The locals have a tradition of listening to poetry, playing instruments, dancing and singing once a month on the main streets. Visitors to the theater would be pleasantly surprised to listen to good music from a one stringed instrument called as dan bau. One feature of the performances is the short duration unlike in other countries.

“A cultural show”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

If you want to do something cultural this is it. Not my sort of thing really but we just happened to be passing at the right time and had a look. It was okay and if you like that sort of performance, you would probably really enjoy it.

“Interesting”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

The music and dance were beautiful. Some unusual musical instruments are used by the Vietnamese. This is certainly worth a look in.

“A great suprise”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

After being underwhelmed by dodgy people and venues this was fantastic. Obtained tickets from booth in front and entered 20 minutes early. Do this to get a good set. Absolutely loved the show and hopefully I was watching traditional Vietnamese. Great music and dancing and a previous reviewer mentioned screaming but it wasn't that bad. It was just an interpretation of a lady turning into a fox I think. Comfortable venue a great place to sit down for a while.
