Owner description: Thuan Tinh Island is a small isolated island, around 3.5 km far from Hoi An Ancient Town, on Thu Bon River. Thuan Tinh Island is an eco-friendly island rich in tropical foliage making it a beautiful place to cook, relax and then enjoy the dishes you've created, Thuan Tinh Island Cooking Tour. We organize daily cooking classes at Thuan Tinh Island: pick-up at the hotels in Hoi An area. You will make your first stop at the market to purchase some fresh and locally grown herbs, before joining a river boat ride in 30 minutes to Thuan Tinh for a relaxing meander through what has been officially recognised as an ecological zone. To visit the local Village, we take a row boat ride through the water coconut trees. We then walk through the gardens to visit a local family and snack on grilled rice cakes and iced tea. From there, we head back to our open-air cooking class overlooking the water coconut trees and river. Our chefs will show you how to make Vietnamese food while you enjoy the cool breeze and peaceful setting. That is much more than simply a cooking class as a journey to discover the eco island that makes you satisfied.

We had the most amazing time on our tour. Mo, our guide/translator/kitchen hand, was wonderful! She explained all the produce we bought at the market and how we would use it in the cooking. The boat ride out to the village was relaxing, so nice to sit back and watch all the boats and people working along the riverside. Upon arrival, we got our traditional hats and went for a ride on a row boat through the water coconuts. We learnt how they separate the rice from the husks and had a turn at helping to make the rice milk for our crispy pancakes. The cooking class area is beautifully set out for small or large groups, we were a group of 4 which was perfect. Thi, our gorgeous chef was great, showing us how to prepare and cook our 4 delicious meals. We were so well looked after the entire time, all the staff were super friendly, patient and had good communication skills (you don't always need someone fluent in your native language to understand them!). The spinning table was a spin out! Still not sure how that works???!! Overall, the best morning creating beautiful dishes that you can recreate back home (recipe and cooking chop sticks complimentary). I highly recommend to anyone who wants to 1. Learn to cook traditional Hoi An dishes 2. Eat delicious food 3. See village life and get out of the city 4. Have fun! :)

Thoroughly enjoyed this, much more than a cookery experience. We cooked and ate four courses and were so full up couldnt eat for the rest of the day! Hygiene is impeccable.

Went on this tour this.morning a lot packed in for your money. Firstly you are picked up by taxi at your hotel and taken to the market by the chef and interpreter to buy the fresh ingredients to cook with. Then it is on to a boat for a scenic 45 min trip along the River. Now on to a rowing boat through the water coconut groves (very pretty) from here it is a short walk to a house where you can help husk rice and make rice milk. To the cookery school now. It is open air in the sense that it has no walls. It is a bamboo structure with a palm leaf roof, it is charming. There were 6 people I. Our group and we all had a one ring gas burner to ourselves. It was very professional and our demonstrator Miss.Tee was lovely. We made 4 courses for our own lunch, don't eat a big breakfast! The toilet and hygiene facilities here were very good. You don't go thirsty either before you get to the school you are given 2 bottles of water. Then at the school there is a lovely passion fruit juice that the ample staff keep refilling. When everything is done we are given our cooking chopsticks s a souvenir and a recipe sheet for the food we have cooked today.

We were collected from our hotel and driven to the market in Hoi An to select ingredients for our cooking lessons. The markets were hustling and bustling, full of fresh produce and heaps of people. We were shown how to select fresh prawns, crab and vegetables.herbs and spices too. Then we were put on a boat the driven up the river for 45 mins through a coconut palm plantation and shown how they make the roofing and thatching. Then we were taken to de husk rice, then make rice milk. Following that we were then taken to an open air cooking room, perfectly set up and clean. The chef explained we would make 5 dishes to eat and proceeded to show us step by step. Food is so fresh, delicious and complex. I ate so much we could not eat dinner that evening. Well done and thoroughly recommended!

Thuan Tinh Island Cooking Tour was absolutely Brilliant. The half day included buying fresh ingredients at the Hoi An market, a lengthy and very interesting river cruise to Thuan Tinh Island and their multi course class. The woman chef was warm, patient and full of good humor and our beautiful, excellent translator and tour guide, Mo, made sure we understood everything (her English is very good) and that we enjoyed the process. We never imagined any cooking school could be so much fun and such excellent value.
