Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Thuan Tinh Island is a small isolated island, around 3.5 km far from Hoi An Ancient Town, on Thu Bon River. Thuan Tinh Island is an eco-friendly island rich in tropical foliage making it a beautiful place to cook, relax and then enjoy the dishes you've created, Thuan Tinh Island Cooking Tour. We organize daily cooking classes at Thuan Tinh Island: pick-up at the hotels in Hoi An area. You will make your first stop at the market to purchase some fresh and locally grown herbs, before joining a river boat ride in 30 minutes to Thuan Tinh for a relaxing meander through what has been officially recognised as an ecological zone. To visit the local Village, we take a row boat ride through the water coconut trees. We then walk through the gardens to visit a local family and snack on grilled rice cakes and iced tea. From there, we head back to our open-air cooking class overlooking the water coconut trees and river. Our chefs will show you how to make Vietnamese food while you enjoy the cool breeze and peaceful setting. That is much more than simply a cooking class as a journey to discover the eco island that makes you satisfied.

We enjoyed this cooking class as it was a little different to another class we had done in Hanoi on a separate trip. This class included a market trip to purchase the required ingredients. Our guide was a very friendly, personable young woman, named Hua I think. We then had a half hour boat ride to the idea with a group of 13 people. The trip was very picturesque past the large fishing nets etc.

The island where the cooking class is done only has 7 people living on it. All the water is imported and hygeine standards were very high. One of the magical parts of this trip was when we arrived on the island we then went on a short boat trip along waterways through the palms. It was serene and quite wonderful. We saw various demonstations such as grinding the husk off rice, then grinding into rice milk .

The food preparation was demonstrated by a chef, then we replicated the dishes, mostly at our own personal work stations. Very professionally set out with many able assistants. We made a range of dishes - pho, bahn xeo plus other delicious dishes. I would recommend this trip.

My friend and I looked at a lot of cooking courses before booking this one, we definitely made the right choice!!
From start to finish this was just so much fun. We were the only two tourists and our guide Quanh later told us that this was her first day, we would never have known, she was knowledgable, attentive, confident and so friendly! She spoke great English and was a perfect host, navigating the markets and explaining all the fresh ingredients we were buying. After a lovely trip up the river and grinding rice ( for use later! ) in a local village, we arrived at our gorgeous open air kitchen. We were introduced to the amazing and gorgeous chef Dee, this woman is a million dollars. Dee took us out into the garden were we grabbed some more ingredients and we were ready to cook.
The experience was fantastic and all the staff made us so comfortable. Chef Dee is just so lovely, she was patient, genuine and has a contagious smile! We spent most of the class in fits of laughter.
We cooked four great recipes and ate so much food we could hardly fit it all in. It was easy to follow and I have already cooked my first Vietnamese meal since getting home.
At the end of our class we had a quick cab waiting for us for our ride back to town, which was great as we were ready for a siesta :)
I cannot recommend this highly enough!!!

We had the honour of being one of the first to have the cooking class at their new location.
And I must say it is a very nice location, you travel for 45 minutes by boat and you have a nice view along the river.
The staff is very friendly.
And the taste was delicious!! The food was amazing! I can recommend everyone who visits Hoi An to take this cooking class.

Myself and two friends ended up having the class to ourselves, and we had a great time! We were picked up at our hotel, taken to the market to buy everything we would be cooking with, and them took a slow boat ride to the island where we would be doing the cooking. We had two sisters act as our english speaking tour guides, and the one sister did her first day of training and practicing her english with us, the other sister spoke excellent english and had been doing it for a while. They were both very sweet and we got along with them very well! The chef was very friendly too. Unfortunately, I think because the water was too high we didn't get to go into the village. The food we made was excellent, and am very happy we decided to do it! Cooking classes in Asia are one of my favorite tours to do!
