We enjoyed this cooking class as it was a little different to another class we had done in Hanoi on a separate trip. This class included a market trip to purchase the required ingredients. Our guide was a very friendly, personable young woman, named Hua I think. We then had a half hour boat ride to the idea with a group of 13 people. The trip was very picturesque past the large fishing nets etc.
The island where the cooking class is done only has 7 people living on it. All the water is imported and hygeine standards were very high. One of the magical parts of this trip was when we arrived on the island we then went on a short boat trip along waterways through the palms. It was serene and quite wonderful. We saw various demonstations such as grinding the husk off rice, then grinding into rice milk .
The food preparation was demonstrated by a chef, then we replicated the dishes, mostly at our own personal work stations. Very professionally set out with many able assistants. We made a range of dishes - pho, bahn xeo plus other delicious dishes. I would recommend this trip.
