Windbell is clean, comfortable and an easy walk to town though you may want to taxi when it is hot.

We had a few issues at check in. It was the first place in Vietnam where we weren't greeted with a smile. I had requested two rooms beside each other which they weren't able to do our first night. Instead of offering a simple apology, I was told I hadn't made the request. I pulled out the email from them saying they would give us two rooms side by side and even this was dismissed saying I hadn't confirmed it. I understand that sometimes things don't work out but it much better practice to explain it rather than tell the customer they are at fault.

It is a more relaxed style of accommodation. There aren't people waiting around to help but they are friendly and helpful when you seek them out.

Rooms are large, beds are huge and the showers are really nice. The pool is nice after a hot day. Laundry is expensive. Miss Hong on the way to the bridge is good and cheap - $1/kg.

You are in a suburban neighbourhood, so there is neighbourhood noise. The resident rooster is enthusiastic. You might find sleep difficult if you are a light sleeper. We shortened our stay in the end and moved to resort by the beach. To give them credit, the family were quite reasonable about this.

It is the first home stay we have tried and we discovered that we probably prefer a bigger hotel style of accommodation but if you enjoy a less formal, more relaxed style of travel then I think you will be happy at Windbell. If you have higher expectations of service, another place may be a better fit.

Lovely, clean and huge beds. Very comfortable all round but be warned: the resident rooster greets the dawn and then makes sure everyone is fully awake with 3 minute reminders. Perhaps it is less evident in other parts of the hostel but from the upstairs room in the Plum rooms it felt like he was on the balcony. That said, it was lovely to wake early and walk along the street in what felt like suburban Hoi An. Street sellers, selling to each other, not tourists, people weighing out the fresh fish kerbside, and the locals drying their noodles on the footpath. There are many smaller lanes that lead through to the river for a very quiet riverside path. Fishermen repairing their boats and dangling a line. So, in the end I was grateful to the rooster and let's be honest - it's a waste to spend your time in Hoi An sleeping.

We were relocated here (thankfully) when our hotel was unbearable owing to the sewage smell in the room - our misfortunate was a gift since this was a nice experience.

Our room was large and adequate with a large, clean bathroom. The bed was much too large (could have fit 5 people) and the mattress didnt cover the bed (so we bumped our legs more than once) and the tub/shower set up had no shower curtain (hence wet floors) but these were minor glitches.

Nice breakfast - the usual - omelettes, coffee, eggs, pho - in a family like setting. Decent pool for lounging and outdoor reading area. Cheap bike rentals and an easy walk to town and great places to explore.

Despite living in proximity to a family and on a main road it was a quiet oasis that I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We were late arrivals and had VIlla 1 - the plus is that it is away from the generations and other r...

Windbell Homestay is an example in what way a homestay should be. A very spacious room with kitchen and a nice bathroom next to the pool. We were treated as part of the family. The personal touch made the difference. Hospitailty with a capital H.

This is a small complex, very clean, family run, and a great choice. It's walkable--for most folks, to the old tourist section of HoiAn. I guess its probably about a 12 minute walk or so depending on your speed. Red lanterns hung across the street by hotel as some drivers cant find it. Many don't know it. It is on your LEFT as you approach from the old town. Look at it on google maps satellite before you go, then have your driver drive SLOW as you get near so you don't miss it.

The pool is nice! If its hot, and it usually is, you'll enjoy that! I didn't see ANY kids when I was there. This place is small...so if you got wild or screaming kids....think twice--you wont fit in here.

The room had a big garden style shower, high ceiling, very nice. I paid more here than most of my Vietnam hotels but it was worth it! No regrets. Three generation family runs the place.
Greenery and peaceful surroundings.

Room Tip: Its a small place and youd probably be happy anywhere. Poolside is probably nicer and more expensiv...

We stayed here for only 1 night during our stay in Hoi An (thanks to a hotel voucher) and we enjoyed it a lot! The rooms are very luxurious and clean, with huge comfortable beds. The swimming pool is great and the breakfast was very nice (especially the pineapple pancakes!) and unlimited.

We loved the location, just far enough away from the hustle of Hoi An (10-15 min walk max) and gave us a more authentic feel to what it must be like to live in Hoi An as a local.
There are local restaurants that line the river as you walk into town, we stopped one afternoon for a beer and saw some people enjoying what looked like a delicious appetiser and unusal food so we asked for a serving as well. Miso clam is excellent and I think they got a laugh at the Westerners willing to take a chance and order without having a clue what we would be getting.
The staff at the homestay were wonderful and very helpful with any questions we had.
Breakfast was lovely and very filling, banana pancakes with their homemade pineapple chutney was worth another visit in my opinion.
The cooking school that was advertised was amazing! I would highly recommend that option to anyone interested in cooking. It was ran with great precision and a lot of fun.
