My family and I also went to Cao Cao Grasshopper, My Ly, and some other restaurants during our 1week trip to Hoi An this week.
Considering the quality of service, Bao Han is by far the best amongst the restaurants in that area. However, Westerners may prefer Cao Cao Grasshopper, as it is cleaner, and has those flashy and colorful asian decorations that Westerners may like, and far-eastern people despise.
The prices of most of the restaurants are ridiculously cheep, and food usually delicious. However, fineness of seasoning, and the textures of the cooked materials differed greatly. Being a Korean, I prefer, and look for crunchiness and crispness of the blanched or stir fried vegetables.
To my palate, Bao Han's stirred fried Glory Mornings with garlic(which we ordered from all of the restaurants) were not overcooked, and maintained the crunchiness of the stems.
Steamed fish is a good indicator of the cooking skills of the chef. Using too much ginger and soy source or other spices usually indicates insecurity of the cook. Among the places in near Swiss-Belhotel which we stayed, Bao Han was slightly better.
If you are going to eat fried or grilled food, than those fineness may not be considered, and you will enjoy any dishes they serve, and will really like them, like my kids did.
In summary, Bao Han's quality of service and food are above other places in Cua Dai street, which is the area near Hoi An Beach resort. The lady who speaks English there is very friendly, and is very concerned about the comments of Tripadvisor. So, mention Tripadvisor!
