“Loud but enjoyable, great location”
Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

Our first 2 nights were spent in a ground floor room, DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR SLEEP! The room had no natural light at all and heard everything from the reception when drunk people come back and are shouting/screaming/singing as well as the noise from the kitchen when the staff start cooking and everyone walks past chatting in the morning. However despite this we really liked the place and asked to be moved rooms to stay a total of 8 nights.

So glad we moved rooms as we had a totally different experience, the place was so much quieter and we loved it so much! All of the staff we met were very friendly, chatting, smiling and even hugging me when I went through reception, but strangely this was not the case for everyone as another couple staying at the same time as us found the staff quiet rude, can only say that it really must depend who you speak to but our experience was very enjoyable and would go back there!

The breakfast is superb! So much choice, there was fruit, pancakes, eggs (freshly cooked to order), bread, cereal, along with a range of local delicacy breakfast dishes. Mini-bar in our room was very dangerous, with such good prices it was comparable with local shop prices without even leaving the room! We found the rest of the food at the hotel to be very reasonably priced, but kinda average. (Vina Ngon next door was much better food and had fresh beer all cheap!)

We visited over the time of Typhoon Nari and found the staff to be very helpful as ATMs were not working, they allowed us to borrow money against our room and put food on the room bill. The place had a generator that kicked in pretty quick when the power went out and although we had limited facilities for a while they got the internet going which was nice to be able to let people at home know we were OK.

Place had a great pool, that was pretty chilly at the time of our visit, but still nice for a refreshing dip along with free pool and a couple of PC's that seemed to work fine.

Not a great first impression, but has definitely left a lasting impression and will happily recommend to others! :-)

Lots of people around.
The staff were helpful.

I had a private room and it was fine! Good wifi access - including the whole way through a typhoon! I found everything to be clean.

Breakfast buffet does the job, but there are better places to eat. Go to the central market and eat for $1.

There are cheaper (and probably better) places if you're looking for a private room but this is an easy alternative.

Its a 10 min bike ride to town - a longer walk. 3km to the beach - easy on a bike, which you can hire across the road for $1/day.

There are so many hotels in Hoi An - this is just one.

Room Tip: Hire a bike and eat at the market.

Recommended to stay here to meet others which is is good for, but very disappointed with the rest. Hotel staff not the friendliest or helpful in anyway. Rooms were clean however other areas o the hostel were not. Sheets were changed but duvet & pillow covers were not. Food at the hostel was terrible, don't eat there and the free breakfast buffet was always gone by 9am and not replenished even though on till 11am. Has to be better places to stay in Hoi an.

Good hostel, came here with my motorbike. Pretty good dorm rooms, outside pool and pool table. You can play youre own music, helpfull staff. Laundry was bad with me, breakfast was allright, not special. But good place to stay, right in between the beach and the center of town, It isnt as cosy as a hostel, more like a hotel.

Sunflower Hotel is one of the few ho(s)tels in Hoi An with dorms. As a single traveller this is a great place to meet other backpackers! Located between the beach and centre with both a 20 minute walk or few minutes by motorbike/taxi. Nice to have a pool, though the beach is near. Quite a large breakfast buffet, which is nice and included in the price.Hot showers, a tub and towels are provided. However, the staff is less helpful and rooms are not very clean. Also my bed was clearly slept in and sheets just tidied again (when I requested to clean the bed at the reception, they did so within a few minutes). Sunflower is for a ho(s)tel a bit more expensive.

Nice hotel. Walking distance to town is about 20-25min. Be careful if you take taxi or motor bike. They always will try to rip you off. This hotel has little bar next to swimming pool and it's open to 10.30p.m where you can eat or Drink . At 11pm is possible to buy drinks at Reteption and sitting there. Meet many people there and enjoyed my stay there.

I was recommended to stay here by a friend but sadly it didn't live up to his reputation. It was in an ideal location, walking distance from the silk factory and old town, really good for shopping, and on the same road as many restaurants that sell beer for 3,000 dong.
However, on the first morning I was awoken by two cleaners letting themselves in. They could see that I was sleeping however contined to laugh and joke around. They then continued to let themselves in every half an hour, sometimes it seemed for no apparent reason?! We made comments however they wouldn't leave us alone. This was the same on checkout day, where from 9am they were coming in every half an hour reminding us of checkout time. One of our group members was unwell and would've liked to sleep but this was made impossible by their constant bothering. They even came into the bathroom whilst I was in there! Luckily I was brushing my teeth but I told them to leave me to it and they came back ten minutes later. To some extent, I understand that there is a language barrier, and we were extremely patient- however they spoke perfectly good English and it was clear that they understood us.
And finally, rats! They were scurrying about everywhere, on the stairs, in the restaurant and in the bar. Sorry to moan and be so negative but I would've liked to feel welcomed by the staff, especially considering it was more expensive than a lot of places, but we were all very disappointed.
