I was recommended to stay here by a friend but sadly it didn't live up to his reputation. It was in an ideal location, walking distance from the silk factory and old town, really good for shopping, and on the same road as many restaurants that sell beer for 3,000 dong.
However, on the first morning I was awoken by two cleaners letting themselves in. They could see that I was sleeping however contined to laugh and joke around. They then continued to let themselves in every half an hour, sometimes it seemed for no apparent reason?! We made comments however they wouldn't leave us alone. This was the same on checkout day, where from 9am they were coming in every half an hour reminding us of checkout time. One of our group members was unwell and would've liked to sleep but this was made impossible by their constant bothering. They even came into the bathroom whilst I was in there! Luckily I was brushing my teeth but I told them to leave me to it and they came back ten minutes later. To some extent, I understand that there is a language barrier, and we were extremely patient- however they spoke perfectly good English and it was clear that they understood us.
And finally, rats! They were scurrying about everywhere, on the stairs, in the restaurant and in the bar. Sorry to moan and be so negative but I would've liked to feel welcomed by the staff, especially considering it was more expensive than a lot of places, but we were all very disappointed.

I loved staying at sunflower. Initially I was only supposed to stay 3 nights but it turned into 5! The staff were wonderful and very friendly. We stayed in a dorm which had a balcony overlooking the pool and was very clean with a great layout. It's about a ten minute walk from the centre which is great as you still get a good sleep at night. The buffet breakfast is AMAZING!
TIPS: 1) the brunch runs out, so get there before 9.30 2) DON'T EAT AT THE BAR. It's terrible quality food and there's a good place next door with 3000 dong beers so if you want somewhere close, go to that 3) be careful if you book a bus from here. They are known to tell you that the bus is fully booked to get you to stay another night. Overall though, I would recommend it to all!!!!!!!!

I stayed here twice on my backpacking trip and it was ace. The free breakfast is incredible, the cocktails are great and the staff are very helpful. A great stay! The dorms were generally really clean and towels were available from reception .

The buffet style breakfast is excellent and included in the room price.

There is a nice pool you can sit in, though you can't really swim in it due to the size.

The hostel is about 20minute walk from the centre of town which isn't bad and is located on a main road.

The staff however can be a little pushy when it comes to booking onward travel. Also I fell ill and when in bed at 3pm they told me I had to leave so they could clean it which wasn't ideal.

Cheap for hoi an and a good atmosphere amongst backpackers. Recommended.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a 6 person dorm (it seems to be more of a hostel than hotel). The rooms are large, and lockers are provided. However, there are only a couple of sockets for the whole room, and there aren't any reading lights by the bed. However, guests have control over the air conditioning which is good (an rare in Vietnam). The bathroom was a little dated, and could do with being cleaned to a higher standard, but overall was ok. The hotel lobby has three computers, there is a laundry service, and the swimming pool is excellent. Break fast is ok; it's an all-you-can-eat buffet, which sounds great, but many of the dishes that Europeans would think of as being for an evening meal (e.g. spaghetti carbonara). However, pancakes are available, along with cereal and scrambled/fried eggs. Location is about as good as you will get in Hoi An, as there is nowhere really to stay in the centre. About at 10/15 minute walk into Hoi An, and about a 10 minute bicycle ride to the beach.

I'd recommend staying here; not unreasonably prices and the service provided overall is good. I don't know of anywhere in Hoi An that would be a better/cheaper place to stay for backpackers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the property, overlooking the swimming pool. Avoid at all costs rooms...

I stayed here in a group of 5 in the resort that turned out to be my favourite in South East Asia. The atmosphere was lively, great environment to socialise. The pool and internet areas made for a really cool hostel, with a chilled backpackers vibe. But I did find the rooms pretty basic, in terms of beds and comfort. The food was okay and the sight of rats scuttling around the reception area needs to be addressed by the hotel staff. However, it is a great place to stay if you're on a budget and want the sociable backpacker atmosphere.

We stayed on the ground floor next to a room which was a construction site very noisy all day. As the buffet was open from 6 am till 10 every person going there would walk past our room chatting as you do. So if you stay here don't stay on the ground floor. Food is average but the buffet breakfast is pretty good for the price of the room. Bed sheets where not overly clean as well nice back garden bar with pool and pool table is the highlight.
