I was recommended to stay here by a friend but sadly it didn't live up to his reputation. It was in an ideal location, walking distance from the silk factory and old town, really good for shopping, and on the same road as many restaurants that sell beer for 3,000 dong.
However, on the first morning I was awoken by two cleaners letting themselves in. They could see that I was sleeping however contined to laugh and joke around. They then continued to let themselves in every half an hour, sometimes it seemed for no apparent reason?! We made comments however they wouldn't leave us alone. This was the same on checkout day, where from 9am they were coming in every half an hour reminding us of checkout time. One of our group members was unwell and would've liked to sleep but this was made impossible by their constant bothering. They even came into the bathroom whilst I was in there! Luckily I was brushing my teeth but I told them to leave me to it and they came back ten minutes later. To some extent, I understand that there is a language barrier, and we were extremely patient- however they spoke perfectly good English and it was clear that they understood us.
And finally, rats! They were scurrying about everywhere, on the stairs, in the restaurant and in the bar. Sorry to moan and be so negative but I would've liked to feel welcomed by the staff, especially considering it was more expensive than a lot of places, but we were all very disappointed.
