I've been to Hoian once a month; If you are going to stay here for one night, it's ok; Good valued; But if it is for 2 or more nights, you should try another places; poor- equipped room; dark corridors;
Staff was friendly but tried to sell over-charged travelling tickets; ... Overall, not a good place to stay more than one night;
I am not a picky person, but it would be nice to receive even the slightest help from hotel staff when they claim to "be honoured to serve you" (sign in hotel). To start, the photos of this place online do NOT match the rooms- I have no idea where they were taken but folks it wasn't here. The pool is sporadically open- the sign that says "we close at 9" goes up around 7. They also have signs that say that noone will be there to help you after 10 pm- try 9. The walls are moldy, and rooms are in general not clean. I asked if they could confirm my bus for me as they have signs everywhere claiming to help, the lady told me she can't help me and I need to go to the bus station because sometimes they sell people false tickets, she then gave me the wrong directions in the rain so I went to where the bus dropped us off. I asked around and the people there directed me to the one person who spoke English- to my disdain it was the lady from my hostel! In the end I found my own way- but they clearly are only interested in selling through their connections and if you have anything that wasn't bought through them they aren't interested in helping.... I could have dealt with the room, it was the awful and rude service that I couldn't appreciate....The only helpful person was the evening night man despite the fact that he couldn't speak English, he was by far the most kind
We found this place to be terrible. Most annoyingly the rooms do not match the pictures at all. Our room was old, small and smelt of mould. We understand it is a budget room and do not have high expectations but this was not as advertised at all. Then the manageress is trying to fleece you of every dollar available by trying to book trips, buses and taxis at over inflated prices. We found a much better place called My Chau Hotel, 4 Tran Cao Van St. Much better spot, great staff and a nicer room at nearly half the price. Please stay there instead.
THis is a great hotel for the young back packer. We were dropped off here by our driver from Hue, it was bucketing down people every where in reception ( that should have warned me) anyway we checked out the room which looked great ( $23. night with breakfast bargain) it was clean had aircon sat tv bathroom fridge . Now the down side our room on second floor towards the front had a karoake bar next door below our window which started thumping about midday and stopped at a reasonable hour 10pm normally that wouldnt be an issue but with the rain us oldies ( early 50s) didnt want to be running around in the rain so stayed in.TV aircon on and up helped. The other issue was the pool which is in doors but our room had a door that opened up over that area so at 1 am when one rude young couple decided to come in and have a swim etc we all heard it. THe staff where nice enough and our breakfast was good. Internet here was not that good and no phone calls can be made from your room they must be at reception but then they cant understand what you want unless the boss is there???? Therefore we stayed two nights and moved on.The night guard cant speak any english and sleeps right through coming in late too.
We stayed here in the end four nights, but only because it was more or less the cheapest we could find. As long term travellers, we don't ask for much and any decent bed is fine. The room was alright, but the atmosphere was one of the worst we've encountered in already two months of traveling through China and Vietnam. First of all. The second morning we got called out of our bed by the reception that we HAD to leave in half an hour, because there appeared to be another reservation by a big group (we were only with the two, so were financially not so rewarding). After some disaggreements, the manager finally decided we could stay longer because we thought that was not the right way to act as a hotel. But from then on, all the friendlyness disappeared. They were further only twice a bit more friendly to us. Once when we wanted to book a daytrip, and only because they get a commission on every tour they sell. And once more when another group was checking in, and they asked us very friendly to not tell them we got a room for 8 USD (we got a discount because we stayed in Hue at another hotel of theirs). They booked it over the internet and had to pay 16 USD for the same room, so we had to be quiet. The most remarkeble thing was in this hotel that they really got angry at us because we didn't go to the tailor they advised (hotels get commission as well on tailor-shopping: they advise you only one, and you know you pay the hotel if you go there). Oh almost forgot. There was a lot of noise (= a drunken group at the pool and in the hallways) at night, and the nightguard failed to say anything about it
Big rooms with doble beds instead of twins, accetable shower. Computers are slow but free.
Cheap MiniBar in the room! 1.5L water bottle 8000dongs.
