Big well appointed rooms, though near the pool can be noisy if the other guest are that way inclined. Free internet and bikes, great breakfast, good position what more could anyone want?! Will stay again
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
We stayed at this hotel last April, as the room we got in Southern Hotels right next to reception and very noisy, so we found this instead. It was beautiful we paid about $US40 a night for a room with a king bed and a spa size bath, few minutes walk into markets of the town and restaurants. The staff were nice, though on check out it was another story. We had an early flight from danang and therefore had to leave the hotel by 6am, so we had breakfast and were ready by 6am but they weren't. We made a few phonecalls to the UK and they hadn't added it to the final bill. So after we had paid up already we had to make another payment by credit card for the phone bill, but it seemed to take them 10 minutes to sort it out, then just as we were leaving they yelled at us and said they had forgotten to add another phone call we made, so again waiting longer. I think they should have sorted this out before we came down to pay the final bill, and by then I was getting quite annoyed because they held us up and they were laughing as if it were funny. That left a sour taste in my mouth, especially as we had spent about $US500 in their Tailor shop. I would stay there again, but would ask them to sort out bills for when you leave especially if it's early in the morning. So my recommendation would be to not stop at the hotel's tailor shop, shop around for clothes.
Firstly the positives - the location is fantastic - In a quiet location close to the main town. Free bike hire is great (although the man that coordinates it is a bit grumpy). Staff on reception were helpful, especially arranging train tickets.
The not so good - we had one of the cheapest rooms and it was huge with a jacuzzi bath. However, it was very very dark, the toilet and shower were in the same tiny room, and every time you had a shower, the whole bathroom flooded, sometimes coming into the bedroom too.
The breakfast was the worst that we had in Vietnam - eggs were good, but bread and cakes were stale and the juices were very watered down about 1 carton to 1 l of water.
Overall, it was fine for the price, but not nearly as good as we expected based on the reviews here.
Had a wonderful time in Hoi An. The Long Life Riverside is a lovely little hotel, friendly staff and very clean. I would defintiely recommend this one. However our friends that were travelling with us had to move rooms 3 times until they got the room they had originally booked . there are computers in the rooms with free internet, but be careful as the one we had was full of trojans and viruses. We had our own laptop with us so used that for everything except when googling for travel info.
Breakfast was good and plenty of it and the friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. Fresh fruit, water, tea and coffee left in our rooms every day. Short walk across the bridge to the centre of town and some really wonderful restaurants. Best hotel we stayed in in Vietnam. we originally booked for 3 days but liked it so much we extended out stay to 7 days.
My friends and I made a booking for 3 rooms at the hotel and had also received a confirmed reservation number. However, upon reaching the hotel we were told that there were no rooms available! Imagine our horror! We saw some other guests at the lobby and they too had the same problem, and were turned away. It is unbelievable how unreliable this hotel is. We were just told point blank "we're sorry it's our mistake but we have no room for you."
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights after being recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed, however other family members also staying there, and other guests we spoke to had trouble with rooms not being ready or available due to double bookings. They were offered rooms on the lowest level near the cleaners' storerooms until rooms became available. We had booked last October but were not required to pay a deposit. In the end my brother's family still did not get the pool view rooms that we had booked for their stay. My room was very large, furnished in traditional style with a DVD player and computer. It was a little musty - possibly due to the fact that it was in a very central position right next to the pool and offered little privacy if all of the windows were open. The bathroom was gorgeous with a huge free standing bath - the same privacy issues though as it had a huge frosted glass window which faced onto the main walkway through the hotel! I tended to bathe without lights on so as not to give the other guests something to laugh about!! The hotel is in a fabulous position with free bikes and lovely staff at the front desk. Although there were some issues for the others, I would stay here again.
