“Hard to find. Lots of fun.”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This restaurant is hard to find--it is down a couple of narrow alleys. Once you get there it is worth the search. They serve only one dish--skewered grilled meat and pancakes that you wrap like a spring roll with herbs, veggies, spread etc. The alley is filled with tables and everyone is having a great time eating the delicious food. The staff was very nice and helpful and overall it was great fun. The whole family loved it. Recommended.

“Great lunch - bring your appetite!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We visited this as a recommendation from a friend. Glad we did as we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had the set meal, which is a DIY rolling of yummy food, however, we were lucky in that one of the friendly staff members proceded to roll for each of us, putting just the right amount and combinations. Loved both types of rolls, the pineapple and even the sorbet at the end!
Bale Well is not located in amongst all the other eateries, so it was a little quieter, but it does get busy. Really enjoyed and can recommend.

“A great eating experience in Hoi An ...”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We were recommended this "local" restaurant by some fellow travellers we met from Hong Kong and then checked out other reviews from TA. We were not disappointed.

Hidden down a back alley, this vibrant and buzzing local eatery was a pleasure to visit. Not really knowing what to expect, but told they only offered a set menu of local food, we were ushered to a seat in the brightly lit alley-way and asked for what drinks we wanted. Beer is the obvious choice!

Next came a wave of food, Pork & Beef Skewers with chili and soya bean dipping sauces, a large plate of lettuce and mixed herbs (be careful of the Fish Leaf, which is an acquired taste by few) and a plate of Rice Papers. The very friendly waitress then proceeded to show us (well actually focusing attention more on the male than female participants) how to combine the ingredients in the rice paper, dip in the sauces and consume. Then came the Rice Pancakes, with similar instructions for eating and consuming.
Note.
1. All of this food just keeps coming until you have to say, STOP! So it's great for those of us who like our food, but if you are more moderate, just slow everything down so your plate never really looks empty!
2. If you are still hungry, Desert (and obviously drinks) is not part of the set menu, so you will need to pay extra for this but they will not break the budget!

The whole experience cost us less than $15, so make sure you check this place out whilst visiting Hoi An, you won't be disappointed. However, be prepared that you may have to wait to be seated as word spreads on how good this place is!

“Awesome feast”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Was taken to this restaurant by our Intrepid guide leader. Awesome feast but take a big appetite. A fun dinner where you have to roll your own wraps with all the goodies they bring out. Recommended

“Stuffed!”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

We came here because my husband had a craving for banh xeo...which was thoroughly satisfied along with many other delicious dishes. The restaurant is off a bigger street with seating indoors and outdoors. The service was quick and the food came out fast. We had the banh xeo (yellow pancakes), grilled pork, rolls and as other reviews mentioned, the owner demonstrated how to eat it all and basically fed my husband. It was definitely one of the best dining experiences we had during our month long SE Asia tour!
