“Delightful homestay in charming Hoi An”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

I stayed for 3 nights at this homestay in Hoi An and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a great find in a place where you could easily end up with the wrong accommodation.
The staff, room, pool, breakfast and atmosphere of the homestay were brilliant. I highly recommend this place because:
- they have a great pool
- the staff are so helpful and can arrange boat trips, bus and train tickets, post office deliveries, all sorts!
- free bikes so you can get into town and to the beach
- fantastic breakfasts, definitely sets you up for the day!

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed in Hoi An during the celebration of Ho Chi Minh's birthday. The owner invited all the guests to dinner that night. We had great food with all the guests staying there that night. So, besides staying luxurious room (we were also upgraded at no charge), we enjoyed an evening with new friends. Also, besides the pleasure of enjoying the pool before dinner we found that the staff were amazingly helpful and knowledge.

Amazing friendly reception. Amazing breakfast every morning. Clean pool and clean rooms every day. Good advice for tours - the my son and massage recommendations you could do better though. Wonderful random invitation to a dinner with fellow guests - amazing food! The best we had in hoi an. Although its a homestay you are very much in your own space. The good part of it is that you feel like you can also connect with fellow travelers. We even got a super late check out thanks to mi mi. We felt at home and will definitely come back again.

Room Tip: Try and score the bungalow on its own out the back. Awesome bathroom.

Orchid Garden was such an excellent resort. It's categorized as a B&B or a home stay, but this place feels and acts like a resort. It has all the amenities you need: free breakfast, swimming pool, and free bike rental.

Breakfast was made to order and I never saw it on our bill in the end. You can get anything from ham and eggs to a bowl of pho. Fresh fruit every morning. The two ladies that make it right behind the dining area are super happy and willing to accommodate. The pool is fantastic on a super hot day. And you can borrow a bike any time. The bikes are well maintained and they even give you a lock to use. Visitors should definitely bike to the beach and have a bowl of Cao Lau. The room was so awesome. We got a room just above the kitchen and you can somewhat hear everybody downstairs, but it's fine when it's only murmur. The only complaint I have is the pressure of the water, and how long it took for hot water. Nothing around that, and it's definitely expensive to replace. With such a nice bathroom and huge shower heads and cool looking sink and toilet and window by the shower, it would absolutely top it off if the water pressure was a little higher. Not an important factor for me, it just takes a little longer for a shower.

I think the best part about Orchid Garden are the staff. The lady at the front desk not only had exceptional customer service, but she had so much knowledge of the area and shared it. She knew about the beaches to go to, the bars to hit up, the direction of the market, Japanese bridge, full moon festival. All the stuff any great local tour guide would know. But what really stood out was she knew exactly where to buy things and eat. She showed us where to get Cao Lau, where to get red rose, sandwich, and even drew specific directions on where Bale Well was. So good. So good! Not only her, but the rest of the staff helped so much and shared everything they knew.

All in all a great city became even better with a great hotel or resort or B&B or.. only the bill showed me what type of accommodation it was, because everything else re-categorized this this resort. The amenities are always the selling point, but it's really hard to advertise the service and the service at Orchid Garden was above and beyond. Thanks Orchid Garden.

Room Tip: Next time choosing a bungalow may have been better, but a little bit more pricier. With two people a...

Cannot recommend this enough. It is so beautiful and peaceful. As soon as you arrive Mimi will greet you and make you so welcome. We had the family bungalow and it was just perfect. Let alone that the pool was right outside our windows. The outside bathroom is magnificent and such a fabulous idea. The gardens are just a credit to them. It is so quiet here because it is out of the main town, but borrow a bicycle and take a ride all for free. The family dinner that they cook for the guests was magnificent and a great time to sit with the other visitors and have a great chat about travels. Have no doubt that I will return here. We even bought fresh pineapples and the staff blended up the pineapple juice with plenty of ice, perfect service when its 40 degrees and so much appreciated.

Room Tip: Family room consists of 2 double beds but they are happy to provide another bed if you require it fo...

This homestay is located equi distance between the Beach at Cua Dai and the old town. There were bicycles available free of charge and also if you did not fancy braving it on the road, a taxi into the old town and the local beach was about 50,000 Dong or $2.5. There is a quiter beach at An Bang and that was about 80,000 Dong or $4. Mi Mi and Ni Ni were both very helpful and friendly on the reception. They will organise local trips, taxis and cars to your next destination. We liked this homestay so much we actually stayed for 8 days, the breakfasts were made to order and were very good. A combination of fresh fruit, cereals with yogurt or fresh milk, all types of eggs, bacon and pancakes all with a fresh baguette. We stayed in the bungalow and which were very spacious and of a good standard. Two televisions, handy if you both want to watch different programs, and a very novel outside shower room, bath and toilet.
There is a small swimming pool with a jacuzzi section and this is very handy after a day out touring in the excessive heat. The added bonus is the lovely orchid gardens with fish ponds, song birds, and beautiful flowers all round. It really is delightful. Hoi An should be visited as the sun sets, the area around the Japanese bridge with all the Chinese lanterns is great walk, with loads of shops and good restaurants. Would recommend the icecream and cakes at the Cargo restaurant near the river, and the very good value Mermaid restaurant close to the market for local food of a very good standard and very cheap!! The added bonus is the homestay lays on a twice weekly dinner for all the guests, and this is Vietnamese food very nicely cooked all washed down with a good local wine. The only minor criticism was being in No2 bungalow you did hear the morning traffic.
