“Stay in Paradise!!!”
Reviewed April 15, 2011

After 2 years we finally made it back to Hoi An and stayed for the second time in this lovely homestay. And again it was a pleasant experience; chilled out for a week, enjoyed the beautiful Orchid garden (the owner has more than 20 years of experience), greatful for the peacefull ambiance and most of all the quality time we spent with the family!!!
One night they invited all the guests for a homecookes dinner prepared with a lot of love and it was so delicious!!!
The bungalows are nicely decorated and breakfast is included... nice baguette by the way! Try the bananapancakes and the Vietnamese white ice coffee!!
Swimmingpool and bikes are also free for use.
Thanks to Mme Phuong and her husband and their cheerful crew, we enjoyed every minute of it!
We'll surely be back... until then, we wish them all the luck and may their lives be full of joy & hapiness!!
Thanks again and take care!

We stayed three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Its much more personal than being in a hotel. We stayed in one of their rooms and although we had a look at their bungalows which were very spacious and had kitchen facilities, we were happy with the room. The staff were very friendly (a big plus) and the owner held a beautiful dinner with wine one night we were there. Although it is a fair walk to the town, and there is bikes available we used a taxi $1.50 each way. Three little cafes within walking distance of the homestay and as we arrived ar night was very handy. The middle one had very good food. We would definitely stay again

This has to be one of the best palces we have stayed in. The bungalows are huge, and it is evident that cleanliness is a priority for the owners. The pool is great after a long day shopping and eating in Hoi An !! The first night we arrived the owners put on a lovely meal for the guests, Dalat wine included, such a nice gesture. Breakfast good choice and the staff are so sweet and friendly , always ready for a giggle. Free internet usage in open air kitchen dining room. As the name suggest there are orchids every where. About a 15 minute walk into town but there are also bikes you can use from the resort. Beach a bit further, but taxi only $2. Get to the beach early as it gets very busy. You can hire sun beds at end of beach for a couple of dollars but if you want a bit of peace walk further up and rent from Resort . $5 for the day and you get a towel and can use the showers .If you dont want to go to town for dinner there are restautants in close proximity. Suggest you try Red Dragon- Mr Long, turn left when exiting, walk about 10 minutes, 2nd place past lights. The son is the chef and the food is fabulous and a very friendly atmosphere.
Dont miss out on doing a tour with Jack Tran Eco tours, they are the best and youcan book from reception. We spent 2 weeks in VN (2nd trip) and I must say our stay at Orchid Gardens was the highlight.

Room Tip: Cute dog which eases the pain of leaving one.

We, 4 adults, stayed in a beautiful bungalow next to the pool
The bungalows have to be seen to believed! Almost better than being at home with all the comforts
Two bathrooms, one with outside shower and HUGE rooms with kitchen
Why would you want a kitchen with all the delights in Hoi An though?

We were greeted by two beautiful young women who gave us lots of info and advice about the area
The location is between the beach and town, a short ride away on the complimentary bikes
Try cycling around the villages, away from the tourist strip

We were treated by our hosts to a meal with wine with the other guests. It was a nice touch and great to meet fellow travellers
Breakfast was fantastic and cooked to order with a platter of fresh fruit
The beds were large and comfy. The rooms are quiet, except for the crow of the odd rooster in the morning which did not disturb us
We were next to the pool, no one used it when we were there
There are two computers with large screens and fast connection in the dining room for use by guests

There are little shops close by to buy alcohol and toiletries, etc.
If you leave your laundry at reception they charge $1 per kg to have it done and it will be ready later that day

There are three restaurants close by going towards town
We tried the middle one and had a fantastic meal. The only gripe was that they allowed a tout to bother us the whole hour we were dining
He sat and chatted, trying to get us to go to his clothing shop in town.

I didn’t realise he was just off the street. When I found out I told him we wanted to dine in peace and told the restaurant owner we would not be back because they allowed touts to pester us

Later on when we were in town the tout again approached us and we said again we were not interested. He did not bother us again!
A common practice is for restaurants to allow touts in to bother customers, it is annoying.
A few times we complained to the owners and the touts were told to leave

I would give this gem a 15 out of 10 and I would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the rear, they will be quieter

We stayed at the Orchid Garden in the beginning of November. Unfortunately it was still rainy season there :-( - the first impression of this Homestay was very good. The rooms are beautifully furnished, only the bathrooms has no real shower and seems already worn. The breakfast was great - you could order from a menu (I recommend the banana pancakes). The position of the hotel is quite good. It is half way between the ciy of Hoi An and the beach. It costs you around 1 Euro to get to the city center by cab. As it was nearly raining for the whole 3 days we stayed, we decided to have some clothes made. The girl at the reception recommended BEBE and we were very satisfied with their service.
Hoi An has some great restaurants. Despite the rain we had a very pleased stay at the Orchid Garden and Hoi An itself. Would love to come back with some sunshine.
One last thing: It was my first experience in a homestay - honestly spoken you have to get used to it - to be guest in one's house who is always around. But I would recommend it to anyone. Was a great experience

Lovely little place. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms in the main house, this was adequate for 2. Firm kingsize bed, fridge, wetroom... which was surprisingly spacious & a balcony.
The owner & the staff were all really friendly & helpful. Breakfast was excellent along the poolside...pho, cooked egg dishes, fresh fruit platters and fruit shakes all made to order.
The free meal we received on one of the nights along with the other guests was excellent a selection of local foods and even wine.
The pool was good for a quick dip, but only 2 sunbeds. This was not a problem for us as we were out and about every day.
The free bikes (not very good brakes, but comfortable seats) were useful for getting to the beach or town, which otherwise took 20 mins to walk.
Found it to be quiet during the night because the room was away from the road.
A good base for visiting beach, local countryside or the town.

We enjoyed the Orchid Garden homestay very much. I found the location to be ideal, situated inbetween town and the beach, as long as you're happy to cycle. The garden was full of fresh flowers which gave a nice atmosphere, and the group dinner people have mentioned is a very nice touch. For the price range (we paid £25 a night), I think it's very good value.

Town Tips: Duo Tien restaurant served excellent vietnamese food. Also if you turn left out of the hotel and cycle/walk for about 1km there's a couple of very nice riverside bars to while away an afternoon. If you tire of vietnamese food, try the only indian in town (i think) - the ganesh - very good. Cinnamon cruises cooking trip was good fun.
